You realize, of course, that anyone searching in groups.google
for that callsign will *never* get a hit on any of your posts?

Pretty much ranks up there with the fellers that use some contrived
ASCII code for a slashed-zero in their call. Again, a groups or
web search by someone else will never get the "hit".

OK. I give up. Exactly why does an air purifier require a remote
control? :)
Here's an even more stoopid example:

I recently had to replace our king size electric blanket.

<OT>
(Only it was not easy: Nobody sells electric blankets anymore! It
took me awhile to realize they are now called "warming blankets"!
Jeez! Just to be politically correct, I suppose, due to the hysteria
of radiation from electrical power lines...)
</OT>

It took me some effort to locate a Dead Simple one that did *NOT* use
remote controls.

I give up, too: "Exactly why does an (electric blanket) require a
remote control?"

Jeez! Think about it for awhile!!

sigh...

Call me thick. But your comments were lost on me. I have no idea
what you are talking about.

I might have a set for a 1020. If they'll fit, well we need too find out,

Unfortunately I'm going out for the entire weekend. I'll look Monday and get
the numbers and dimensions.

These lenses have Scheimflung (center/corner focus) adjustments on them so as
long as they're about the right size they should work.

Yes. Always a good idea to turn everything off except a light.

Yes, depending on where you live.

thanks for the reply...
if one lives in an area where surges are common randomly can one assume
pretty certainly that following an outage there will be a power surge?

hi and thanks
if there's a surge in one house (same fuseBox) does it hit all outlets
(assuming there are no surge protectors) or is it possible for it to
damage things from only 1 outlet?
(assuming the equipment is the same per outlet)

Power surges can enter through power, phone, cable, antenna, or any other
lines into the house. Sometimes equipment will be damaged, sometimes not, it
depends on too many things to predict. Surge protectors can help to some
extent but they're largely useless, your best bet is to unplug expensive
equipment during storms and outages.

| OK, add this to the list; car stereos with a remote control.

You don't really need them on TVs either - if you have children!

It's much more likely than not. I've seen them bounce the voltage up very
high before they get it all stabilised. If you don't want to lose the item,
turn it off.

Well, the estimate is in. And thanks to everyone for the info.

I just wanted to make sure the estimate I received is accurate, They
said that they needed to re-build the convergence panel, at a cost of
$180 labor and $200 in parts.

I am inclined to say yes, even though the unit is probibly only worth
that working. The Pickup and delivery charges are $20 so the whole
repair would be $400.

Does this sound right? (I am really asking)

Thanks again!
Alex
Parts sounds a bit high, but $400 isn't too unreasonable. If the picture is
good otherwise then I'd say go for it.

If you can work out the battery rating and voltage, it is possible to
substitute adapt on to the UPS with a gel cell battery that is close to the
original.

I have an MGE pulsar EX15 UPS (uninterruptable power-supply), and I
think
the battery or batteries inside have gone bad.

Unfortunately this UPS does not appear to be designed with a
user-servicable
battery. That said, has anyone replaced the battery on this model or
similar
model UPS?

I've replaced the battery in several APC Back-UPS Pro 650 UPSs, but
that
model seemed to have been designed for user-replacement of the
batteries.

Also, does anyone know the size/type/voltage/quantity battery(s) this
UPS
uses? I'm guessing it uses either a 6V or 12V sealed lead acid
batteries
as that's what is typically used, but it'd be nice to know specifically
the exact specifications so I can price a replacement to see if it's
worth
the cost of replacement.

Probably weak capacitors in the vertical deflection circuit.
If the tv looks good and does not have color bleed to the right even when
the contrast and color are turned up all the way, and the black and white
pictures actually look black and white, the tv is worth fixing.

If you take it into a reputable shop, usually under a $90 total repair.

David

I think you are right. I did that because it looked better. Without
the spaces, it looked all run together.

Can't imagine what could cost that much on the convergence board and the
labor and PU&D seems low, unless they are just having the board rebuilt,
which is rather silly. I'd want to know more about the diagnosis. Are they
just guessing or did they identify the problem?

I have posted a copy of the Olympus parts drawing and list for the

Hope this helps,

I do also have almoust the same errors then booting
up my 2430a and I can´t solve it by re selfcalibrate.
Sometimes it does not boot at all, it only gives me a orange screen and
the two leds, "raedy" and "arm" are set.
