both in world literature, in my own reality and through media.

When you look at what is shown on tv every night you might wonder
where all this violence comes from. Not only the real violence in the
news, but also all the violence in movies and tv series.
And the violence in people's faces and voices, if you are sensible
enough to see it.

Think of what we could do if most people were not occupied with
filling their lives with a lot of meaningless stuff, and violence.

Mankind is paralyzed by a cultural pattern which creates a need in
people to fill the emptyness in their lives, they fill it with
obsessions like sex, music, work, hate, love, bitterness, drugs,
games, anything to take their mind off reality.

The reason is an old power system, a mind control system which earlier
had a religious form, today it has taken on new forms but the old
traditions live on as social processes.

It takes only half an hour for me to explain what I have to say, but
it usually takes years to help a typical reader overcome all the
objections to my ideas he has been impregnated with.

The reason for that is that the culture we live in has built up a lot
of reasons and justifications for the lifestyle most people follow,
and these ideas fill people's minds with justifications for the way
they have been taught to live.
When people are forced to live at a high stress level they find
reasons whu it has to be like that. It is easier for them to change
their own way of seeing the world than to change the world for the
better.

People who try to change the world for the better are called whiners
or sissies. It is more manly to accept a tough world and make it even
tougher.

People learn to be devious and streetsmart, they become experienced
and learn how to fool the simple and naive people.
It becomes an ideal to be tough and smart, to learn to handle a lot of
stress.

People who are trained to be tough and devious have social and mental
power over more natural and uncomplicated people.
The tough people can always escalate themselves out of any problems,
the less tough ones are not prepared to go to higher levels of
toughness and violence.

It has become an ideal to be always on the guard, always ready for a
devious social game, and the people who are not aware of this ideal
are victimized and harassed until they learn the secret rules of this
cultural pattern.

This system leads to a situation where people are so occupied with
keeping an eye on themselves and others that they cannot relax and
find peace of mind. This is the reason why they always occupy
themselves with something, and why they feel a need to drink alcohol.

It is a painful situation to live in, it is unnatural to be constantly
exited and ready for devious social games.
They try to ease the pain and find relief, or occupy themselves with
something as they cannot afford to relax for real.

To be constantly exited has become the norm, instead of being relaxed.
There are many forms of excitation, hate, love, deviousness, fear,
concentration, etc..

In the social life the norm should be to be relaxed, not ready for all
sorts of foul play and violence.

We have a faulty ideal in this culture, and we need to realize how
much problems it causes and change our ideals.

The concentrated and excited people need to understand that they have
to learn to relax, learn to forget the training they have been
subjected to. We should lower the levels of violence instead of
training everybody to ever higher levels of violence.

Certainly. People evolved in a far different environment than the one
in which most of us live, but we still carry the basic lusts that had
served us well for millions of years - even before we were human.
These lusts are now easily exploited for fun and profit. So we have a
gross excess of fast cars, fatty foods, tittilating casinos, drugs and
cigarettes, and an endless series of Lethal Weapon movie sequils.

Think of what we could do if most people were not occupied with
filling their lives with a lot of meaningless stuff, and violence.
Well, we could help the rest of the world achieve, um, what we have.

Mankind is paralyzed by a cultural pattern which creates a need in
people to fill the emptyness in their lives, they fill it with
obsessions like sex, music, work, hate, love, bitterness, drugs,
games, anything to take their mind off reality.
No, the pattern is instinctive; modern culture (and, more effective,
modern technology) just enables us to indulge to excess.
Interestingly, culture *used* to have the opposite effect; those
old-timers understood some things better.

The reason is an old power system, a mind control system which earlier
had a religious form, today it has taken on new forms but the old
traditions live on as social processes.
The reason is high productivity replacing the struggle to survive with
a culture of leisure and plenty, and a collapse of the old
legal/religious heirarchy that, whatever its bad influences, did tend
to supress many excesses.

It takes only half an hour for me to explain what I have to say, but

reasons whu it has to be like that. It is easier for them to change
their own way of seeing the world than to change the world for the

They're not forced. They do it because it makes them feel good,
admittedly on a very shallow and short-term level.

People who try to change the world for the better are called whiners
or sissies.
Too many of them are.

It is more manly to accept a tough world and make it even
tougher.
It takes toughness to reject the fluff, drugs, and shallowness, and to
turn off the TV and do something better.

People learn to be devious and streetsmart, they become experienced
and learn how to fool the simple and naive people.
It becomes an ideal to be tough and smart, to learn to handle a lot of
stress.
Actually, most of the people I know are pretty nice, and have basicly
decent lives. Being tough and devious are useful tools in time of
need, but most people use them sensibly.

People who are trained to be tough and devious have social and mental
power over more natural and uncomplicated people.
The tough people can always escalate themselves out of any problems,
the less tough ones are not prepared to go to higher levels of
toughness and violence.
This is called "leadership." Families and tribes needed this to
survive. Businesses too.

I think you exaggerate. And I doubt there's a correlation between
toughness and alcoholism... I suspect the opposite.

It is a painful situation to live in, it is unnatural to be constantly
exited and ready for devious social games.
They try to ease the pain and find relief, or occupy themselves with
something as they cannot afford to relax for real.
Painful? Most people in the developed world turn out to be rather
healthy physically and mentally, and most enjoy their work, families,
and lives, according to surveys I've seen. Go to Nigeria if you want
to see pain.

To be constantly exited has become the norm, instead of being relaxed.
There are many forms of excitation, hate, love, deviousness, fear,
concentration, etc..
The only thing I really fear in life is boredom.

In the social life the norm should be to be relaxed, not ready for all
sorts of foul play and violence.
You're beginning to bore me.

We have a faulty ideal in this culture, and we need to realize how
much problems it causes and change our ideals.

The concentrated and excited people need to understand that they have
to learn to relax, learn to forget the training they have been
subjected to. We should lower the levels of violence instead of

Right, those Nintendo games have got to go. Thank goodness, the
Terminator movies are on hold for a while.

Q: So; what's to replace the speed, stimulation, fear, competition,
drugs, violence, and game cartriges plaguing our lives?

A: Spiritual, artistic, romantic pursuits.

This is wild, and uninformed, exaggeration. One's newsgroup personna
is loosely correlated to one's behavior with real people in real life.

Around here, the Berkeley Liberals are notorious for morphing from
loving spiritualists to hell-on-wheels the second they step into their

the less tough ones are not prepared to go to higher levels of
toughness and violence.

This is called "leadership." Families and tribes needed this to
survive. Businesses too.

We should lower the levels of violence instead of
training everybody to ever higher levels of violence.

What's happened to you Bill? I can remember when you could at least
stay on the subject for a _little_ while. Now, it seems you're just
trying a scattergun approach. Grasping at straws, perhaps? Or
Alzheimer's, Or don't you know?

Not even worth scoring.

Bill is qujite right, you are despicable. Rude, ignorant, boorish, boring
and banal, with the social graces of a pigmy hippo. There aren't that many
people who need to know about the 555, and the number there are don't make
it worthwhile for the rest of us to put up withyour purile excresences.

Face it, Jonny, you're out of your depth and no-one's going to rescue you.

I did warn you that you would be held up to the ridicule you so richly
deserve at every post, and now, here we go, it's happening.

How's it feel to be the recipient of what you deserve, after so long making
life in the groups unpleasant for others?
