Toshiba TV29C90 problem; Image fades to black...

This is the Standby position, which is also set when the current on the
secondary side of the SMPS is to high. I have the same problem. Do you
remember what was wrong?

thank you.

Good luck! You need a letter singed by the Commander in Chief, plus
top secret security clearance to get your hands on UPS schematics.
Start with the batteries and then ask for more help on
news:sci.electronics.repair where electronic repair techs hang out.

After repeatedly unplugging the TV set for a while and plugging it back
in, the audio has come back on at a decent level--but only some of the
time, with the mute re-engaged one of the next times I turn the set on.

Also, touching the volume control buttons either on the TV set or on the
remote cuts off the audio and re-engages the mute, requiring another
sequence of unplugging and replugging the TV into the electric socket.

If anything, I have established that there is nothing wrong with the
speakers on my TV.

Therefore, I am left with asking once again if anyone knows of a
sequence of pressing buttons or entering codes which might disengage the
mute and allow me to use the volume control buttons again.

Obviously, there is also the possibility that the original disruption of
electricity damaged the TV, permanently causing this effect, and I'll
accept that if I have to.

But, having gotten the audio back from previously having complete
silence, it would be nice to know that I didn't leave any remedy
untried.

Thanks for your ideas.

Well I do have a good Yamaha KXW 421 and it works very well, no problems.
Also have a Pioneer 404R, no problems, a Marantz horizontal deck with too
slow reverse, a dead Kenwood 6050, a dead B & O Beocenter 4600 deck and a
very good Kenwood 4080 which has a reverse which squeaks for a few seconds
at the end before stopping. These are good commercial decks, not
Nakamichis. They do not reccomend any tapes longer than C90 to be used in
any of them, thats logical as C120s are too thin and do stretch a bit too
much causing entanglement in any deck whether a cheap Pioneer or a
Nakamichi. Just use more C60s will be your safe bet. This means 2 C60s for
one C120. Try this first before sinking further into repair woes. Cheers.

If our country, USA, had not influenced the politics there in the 40's and
50's, including putting their puppet government into power under Batista (at
least 3 times), the problem we have now would not exist.
Cheap Cane Sugar, Cheap high quality Cigars, Cheap imported labour force.
Why not influence politics.
Then when he people of that republic finally rebel, get support from whom
ever they can, in this case Russia, and get their purposive independence,
then we have a hissi fit.
Look at all the countries who developed colonial satellite locations and
attempted controlling them. Holland, England, Russia, Et Al Fin! So it is
at our back door, little brother grew up, did they not? Now we have a
closed door policy towards them, not wanting to openly converse over items
that will be mutually positive in effect, such as medical assistance, of
allowing economic development. Well, again we suppressed them, new we reap
what we had sown decades ago.
IMHO as a free born USA Citizen who grew us during this peroid of time and
actually saw what had been done.

Where can I buy some sollar pannels to put on the roof or on the hood
of a car?

The car I have right now, is a total junk. It's a gas and it's totally
sluggish, plus it's old so it smells like shit.

I'm seriously thinking about buying an electric vehicle or a used
hybrid so I can save up on some money. I'm totally broke and I'm
unemployed most of the time. But I have ten or so grand I can spend
from credit if I can put it into something as a callateral that I can
show to the bank, which an electric or hybrid hevicle is perfect
because it barely depreciated or at least depreciates a lot less that
ICE cars. Plus me being broke doesn't help at all with the gass prices,
I can berely afford to drive at all with a car, but I can have an
electric vehicle as long as it has some extra solar pannels and some
extra batteries, which is ok for me in terms of finances because they
will be covered by the low interest loan, easy money.

I'm so f*&#$ng broke it's not even funny. I'll take any way it takes to
save money. With solar pannels, I'm saving like 10% on gas
automatically, plus it's free because the bank covers it, as long as a
keep up a good credit. I don't care if it's sticking out or anything,
as long as it's huge and big and get's me the juice. I'm desperate, I
need to get from point A to point B.

It's not dangerous, but there are those of us who think gutting a Tek scope
is sacrilege. Even if they don't work, they are rarely beyond repair. Gut
an RCA or Eico scope.

This has to be a joke...

Solar panels are very pricey, much more than it would cost to buy a
decent used motorcycle or scooter.

About the only real danger is implosion of the CRT. That's a nice
classic instrument though, it'd be a real shame to tear it apart if it's
complete.

At the very least save the CRT, tubes, tube sockets, transformer and
other parts as they're hard to find and useful parts.
