No, dipshit... sorry, but a high school physics course doesn't cover
enough electronics to make any fuckhead ready for a course in EE, or
EET. It is a cursory overview, at best.

You're already demonstrating serious learning disability with your

thanks John, Really guys no one is here to trample on any one else or maybe

I remember writing to this group that one of the few reasons to top post
was
to say that you consider the whole thread to be a pile of old monkey dung.

Here we go again, the children are squabbling and calling each other
names.

You people are supposed to be engineers or aspirant engineers and this
group
is supposed to help those new to electronics to learn from those who have
knowledge of the subject. Reading through this thread, where I can
without
becoming nauseated by the petty bickering, I am amazed at the wasted
effort
that you're all willing to spend on a subject which has nothing to do with
the purposes of the group. Your behaviour of some of you would get you
fired from any serious engineering company.

You are perfectly well aware of who you are and what you are doing. It's
probably not going to change your behaviour, but let it be known that your
behaviour is an insult to electronics and engineering in general.

To put it into words that even the children among you will understand the
answer to "The proper way to post to a group" is "Politely". Apart from
that, does anyone really care?
snip...snip...snip...

John -

I'm astounded that so many otherwise intelligent people would let
themselves get sucked into the trap of responding to Dark Matter the
Insignificant. I fell for his b.s. once but hopefully, never again...but
then again, I try never to say never! ;-)

Shaun,

there are just a few crabby types here who seem to be perpetually
angry at the world. Just ignore them; they must have their own reasons
for being bitter.

But seriously, it's hard to get the basics of electronics off the web,
and impossible from a newsgroup. Read some physics (the
electromagnetics part, just the basics) and an introductory "circuits
and systems" EE text, then *work some problems* and build a few
*simple* DC circuits, with emphasis on understanding the voltage and
current flows, both instinctively and numerically. Ask questions here
if you get stuck on a concept.

Win's book, Art of Electronics, is a good read, if you follow the
introductory stuff carefully (he goes pretty fast!)

Where will you be going to school?

...build a few *simple* DC circuits,

Combine these 2 concepts
and seek out a magazine with an interesting project
or a website which has a COMPLETE how-to for building a device.
Gather the components (an important portion of the learning process),
build it, and see if it works.

John's correct again when he says:
