So it is certainly is an appalling way to generate electricity.
If you can't see that then your conscience must be made of coal...
The only good thing about generating electricity from coal is that it's
currently cheap on the mass scale required due to our gluttoness wasteful
society. Still doesn't make it less appalling.
appalling too, massively so actually. But once it's dammed and the "damage
is done", it does have that rather nice warm and fuzzy feeling. And those
artificial lakes look really attractive too.
If it wasn't for that pesky waste, risk of accident, and the water usage, it
would be pretty terrific though.

What an UTTER FUCKWIT !!
I think "appalling" is a pretty apt description actually.

Different issue.** There is a huge difference between "ain't nice " and the emotional
crap TW wrote above.
The "nice" ways ( ie hydro, wind etc) are simply not economically
viable or even possible for most of the world.

BTW, hydro ain't "nice" either, the effect of damming is pretty darnWherever hydro power can be generated - it has been as in Tasmania
and NZ.

Agreed. They only viable alternative to coal in most places is nuclear.
Now that IS an APPALLING way to go.
