Simply buy another of the same type and repackage the DOA unit in the
materials from the new lamp. Take the new receipt back to the store with
the DOA unit and get a refund or exchange.

I had the pear-like Philips. 20W and 23W, 100 and 120W respectively.

Although, my 5W Osram starts dim, but makes enough light after some
minutes. I have also exchanged the two 60W mini-bulbs at my extraction
fan of the stove, with ~7W types CFL.

Yes, indeed. I have had one ~15W in my Shithouse (00). Switching
durability was tested well so :)
I excpected though, that many on/off operations will decrease the
lifetime. Not in the least!

I dare to say, the older CFL were better. The today one are available
in an inscrutable variety, but highlights (exepnsive though) are still
available.

I have also met cheap one, which fizzle away, you turn it on for the
first time, but works then for a next/last 50H, with one of the warmest
tones (much Red) I have never seen with CFL ;-). For 1 "Buck/Pound
Sterling", ~8W.

Incandescent lamps have no issues with any of the above.

There may indeed be some truth in that lot, but I'm certainly not reading
through it.

We're all dying of cancer, ..the cancer of growing old.

Dad has terminal lung cancer. He doesn't smoke. And apparantly according
to our all knowing beaurocrats he's not ill enough to receive a blue
disabled parking badge nor disability allowance. Despite not being able to
walk a few feet without almost collapsing into a heap.

He's not ill enough apparently!! This country (the UK) is full of
hypocrites and sanctamonious turds.
