If you sum two channels of a 600 ohm drive chip, you can drive about 300 ohms.

If you can turn a SOIC into a DIP take a look at the TI audio headphone
amplifier chips. There are some 8 pinned ones but in another package.
These things must require some type of cooling ?

Most of those I was looking at are low voltage. What chip is in it now ?

making them believe they are posting to a "google group".
INdeed, their interface is now biased in favor of their "google
groups",

That's arguable. ISTM if Google was truly biased
TOWARDS those people accessing Usenet thru Google Groups,
they would try hard to make that experience a spam-free one.

Folks who use REAL newsreaders know they can filter what they see
and, after the recent mega-rash of abuse,
many have just batch-plonked ALL Google Groups posters.
No loss, they just post spam.

It's the folks who read Usenet via Google Groups
(especially those who don't know about the browser-based filters
available) who have the CRAPPIEST Usenet experience

I just can't see ANY motivation for Google (the Usenet posting portal)
to respond in this uncaring manner
to spam reports about their rogue users
and to permit a spammer to continue to post
after a report has been made.
They want to take it over. With enough spamming people will complain and
then they can step in and "regulate" it...

Hi, all !

I am setting up a computer lab for the disabled. We are looking for
equipments that might aid the disabled (mainly those who are not that
good in movement), and one of the things we are planning to get them
is trackball.

There are many types of trackballs available, unfortunately most are
made for the able-body people. I am looking for something that can be
used by the disabled with ease.

Our objective is that the trackball must be big enough, and easy
enough to be used.

One of the things we have found is the BIGTRACK trackball made by
infogrip ( www.infogrip.com/product_view.asp?RecordNumber=98 )

I want to know if there are other types of trackball similar or better
than the BIGTRACK that I list above?

If you have any experience on which type of trackball that will be
easy for the disabled, please share with us.

Thank you all in advance !!

I purchased one of the BIGtrack trackballs for a 70 year old relative who
has limited dexterity in his hands due to an industrial accident.

He tends to loose his temper while playing computer card games and gets a
little ruff with things, not that anyone could ever get him to quit playing
the games. He never used a computer until he was 65 and has become quite
addicted to the games available to him.

Prior to purchasing the BIGtrack trackball he had either worn out or broken
three other trackballs. The Kensington trackball lasted the longest before
suffering a fatal break in one of the roller guide supports. He was always
complaining that even when the other trackballs worked he had a hard time
keeping the pointer where he wanted it.

It has been 6 months with the BIGtrack unit and he has not complained once
about controlling the pointer. He has commented that he liked the larger
sized trackball that the unit provided. It has withstood his somewhat
physical temper tantrums with no breakdowns, so far.

There is one thing about the BIGtrack trackball that takes a little getting
used to. The mouse buttons are on the top of the trackball, away from the
person rolling the ball. I thought the button placement to be a little odd
at first but it does help in reducing most accidental button triggering by a
random hand or arm movement.

For those who have even more severe limitations I suggest getting the
BIGtrack unit that supports external buttons. That way you can place the
buttons anywhere convenient for the user independent of the trackball. Be
they foot activated or strapped to the arm of a wheel chair.

I used Kensington's Trackball for years, no problems until I wore it out
basically. They were one of few when I started in computers and have
excellent products. I now use one made by Logitech ... it is smaller
however. I also recommend a wireless keyboard ... one finger typing is
better done on the lap in my opinion ... and mine is Logitech as well.

Howdy all,
I am trying to track down a replacement for a transistor(?) with
the following #'s:

D829 (K)
6J2

Try adding '2S' to the front of that part number. Japanese
semiconductor manufacturers have omitted it form small plastic packages
(and some others) for over 30 years.

2SD829 is the base part number, the '(K)' is the beta group, and
'6J2' is the date or batch code.
Perhaps it's this one?

http://www.datasheets.org.uk/pdf/3937549.pdf

If so, it's a fairly hefty NPN Darlington switch.

Some data sheet. Not even a mfr logo to claim responsibility.
I suspect that the manufacturer name may be present, albeit in
Japanese. The data sheet looks as if it might have been photocopied
from within a specific manufacturer's data book, rather than being a
stand-alone document.

If you do a search for 2SD829 at www.datasheets.org.uk, several
references come up. The first is a page from a Japanese
semiconductor-devices summary (1981, I think). The 2SD829 is listed
there... but alas, the "manufacturer" column contains only Japanese
text.

Somebody with rather better language skills than I might be able to
translate.

Greetings Steve..

Regarding:
"...low input, say 1 or 2 volts and can be configured to have no
constraint on output voltage..."

You're kidding - right? If not, you need to review your basic
electronics coursework again.

Cheers,
Mr. Mentor

Steve..

It's amazing what a little research can provide! Having those
resources at your finger tips will also save some posting time here.
I've found such resources enormously helpful in Japanese electronics
also.

We have a supply, p/n HCAA-60W-A made by Power One with two blown
diodes. Diode markings are G1750 9748C. Assumign 9748 is a date
code, anyone have any specs or ideas on these diodes?

Thanks,

Spoke too soon, just crossed it to an NTE5812.

Sorry,

The data sheet for the CK727 illustrated on the web page:

A facsimile of the D.A.T.A. listing is hosted for these parts by
Datasheet Archive, with the first group of four tabulated on the first
page and first lines of the low power silicon pnp transistor section
and the second group in the same location for low power germanium pnp
transistors. The only parts with lower ratings are those with unstated
(blank) listings.

I wouldn't put too much faith in that page of data - the heading says
"Germanium Transistors", yet it lists OC types in the 300's Beyond OC199 is
silicon.
