I might have to do some archive digging when I get some time by the
sounds of it. I did see his movie back a few years ago and thought it
was pretty good, but having never had the radio show available here, I
didn't really have much knowledge about the show itself.
Oddly enough, I never paid for anything he was selling (including his
movie), he just had that NYC vibe and people were happy to show up for
work at 6 am. For us he was here keeping us entertained and giving us
things to talk about right up until lunch. Jobsites that had Howard were
different from those that didn't, he got people talking and getting to
know each other. His rants about his wife being unable to keep rice in
the house, his wife's 20 domestic servants, his disbelief that his wife
would want to go out at night after his 4 hour workday His kids
forgetting father's day. He was talking about himself but he managed to
stike a chord with the rest of us.

Their show is actually rather decent, it is a big hit with the truckers
and transport drivers in this region. I listen to it if I happen to be
going out and getting breakfast or have to go to Boston.
I've seen opportunities to download them I just never bothered to do it.

I'd really rather have Mancow in the mornings here, though it'd be a
difficult decision between Mancow or Bob and Tom. I do generally
listen to Mancow here at home via the net.

I'm hoping for the old Howard to come back, I've never heard Mancow but
no matter how good he is he will never make the impact that Howard has.

Me either.. Just happen to have always had HBO and now Starz Super Pak.
It was one of those things that happened to be on a few times.

That's always a great thing. Most people don't like their jobs, I'm
pretty convinced of that. Other people I've talked to have said
similar when it comes to Stern and his show.

I agree that it'll be very difficult for anyone to ever have as much
impact and reach as Stern did.

Stern's show is definitely going to be different on Sirius, but I, too,
hope different is for the better than the self-admitted lukewarm show
he's been doing for the last decade. He's definitely been able to give
credibility to Satellite Radio as a medium, that's an impressive feat
in and of itself.

I won't follow him to Sirius because the service is terrible. I have an
XM radio just to see what the hype is about and so far I haven't heard
anything that I can't hear with my home stereo. It might be worth the
effort in a few years, but for now it is just more crap to attach to
your stereo.

Here and especially in Northern VT there isn't a lot of options, but
XM's service outright is very unpleasant in this region because of the
angles of the satellites. I've had Sirius since July 2002 and it's
definitely something that I'd not give up without a fight.

Hopefully you'll find a reason to keep Satellite Radio at some point in
time. I suspect they'll continue to evolve the product to make it more
worthwhile to own for people who feel the way you do.

This is bullshit. XM has over 2 million tracks in their library, and
they use a large number of them. You can't get that at home.

I have a very large CD collection and constantly hear music I would
never have purchased and would never have heard on terrestrial radio.

If you're an ISP, then you should know this - take note of the last line.

Notice that the bottom IP Address is 141.76.1.121. This resolves to
proxy1.anon-online.org which is the proxy

server used by JAP to tunnel the connection.

The ISP or company proxy logs in this case are useless, as all data to and
from the server and client is

encrypted. The logs of HTTP-based e-mail server are also useless as the IP
address of the JAP server will only

show in the logs. The line below shows the corresponding entry in the web
server log:

141.76.1.122 - - [12/May/2004:21:09:00 +0530] "GET /webmail HTTP/1.0" 302
277 "-" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE

6.0; Windows NT 5.1) Opera 7.50 [en]"

Figure 12: Web Server Log Entry Related to the E-mail Sent Via JAP

Notice that the IP Address in the log is 141.76.1.122. This resolves to
proxy2.anon-online.org which is

another proxy server used by JAP to tunnel the connection. The only way to
trace e-mail sent this way is to

access the logs of servers running the tunnelling service. In this case,
both 141.76.1.121 and 141.76.1.122

should be checked. Obtaining these logs depends on the country in which the
server resides and also the type

of case in which the e-mail is involved. Paedophilia and terrorism cases get
high attention and level of

cooperation. Harassment and threat e-mails usually are not responded to as
quickly and sometimes not at all.

Nevertheless, an increasing number of anonymity servers maintain logs and
provide them to law enforcement

on request.

I first heard Stern when I was in 9th grade or so, he was pretty whiny.

His show in the 90s was amazing, I used to laugh for at least an
hour every morning.

it was exactly what my dad was telling me without the sidekicks and
pornstars chiming in.

He was great. I postponed marriage till I was 30
thanks to Howard.

"Of course, what did you expect?" That simple phrase from my dad
and later from Howard completely diffused my righteous indignation (12
year old version anyway).

So it was a part of growing up and in some
ways it helped reinforce ideas that I needed to heed.

To sum up...

Tim thinks Stern is his Daddy. Tim gives Stern more credit for raising him

It influenced O&A so much that they developed an entire career of
imitating Howard.

I am, I keep reminding you that O&A are a Stern copy show and there are
much better things to listen to on XM than those idiots doing a Stern
