Yeah, MeatPlow (aka William Malone Griffith, Junior from North Canton,
Ohio) has constructed an online persona that is diametrically opposed
to his reality.

He says he's got a girlfriend. But he's been caught looking for
long-lost relatives using the screen name 'BlancoBear'. And using that
same screen name to surf gay porn, specifically at BearPorn.com, which
you can ascertain for yerself by trying to sign up with that screen
name... it's already taken. By Willy. Little wonder, though. He can't
even buy a Happy Ending hand job from a woman who works at a massage
parlor that specializes in doing just that. Women reject him, even
when money is involved, even with minimal physical contact. So his
claim of having a girlfriend is laughable. He'll have to post proof to
convince anyone otherwise (and pictures of you and yer sisters
together don't count, Willy. I know what all of them look like.).

He claimed in 2003 that he owned an IT consulting company that pulled
in over $10,000,000.00 per year. The reality is that he runs a small
fixit shop where he repairs computers, kitchen appliances, and guitar
amps. It grosses around $40,000.00 per year, and after taxes and
expenses, he's taking home just a bit more than $25,000.00 per year.

He claimed in 2003 that he was a majority stockholder in his 'family
company', Ohio Kentucky Oil Corporation, and made large sums of money
from this stock ownership. But the reality is that OKOC is on its last
legs. It's barred from soliciting investors in Tennessee, it's under
investigation in Ohio and Kentucky, it's already had a few lawsuits
against it, and there are 13 lawsuits still pending. All because the
principles of the company committed securities fraud. Please note that
in 2003, William Malone Griffith, Jr. claimed to be one of those
principles, he claimed to handle the finances for the company... so if
that's true, he had a very large hand in the financial fraud that took
place. The company no longer owns any oil assets or oil wells, it no
longer does any of its own drilling, it exists as a shell corporation
for the sole purpose of defrauding investors. Things are so bad at
OKOC that his sister Christine H. Griffith-Vick (Christine Vick), who
worked for OKOC for more than 20 years, jumped ship to become a
Realtor, at possibly the absolute worst time in history to become a
Realtor. So things are pretty bad at OKOC.

He claimed that he regularly made half-million dollar bank deposits.
But the reality is that he's never had more than $30,000 in liquid
assets at any given time in his life. And he'd kill for that amount
now, as a few hundred dollars is a large sum to him right now.

He claimed to be so rich that he owned his own home, but the reality
is that he rents his shitshack from David S. and Joan R. Shaner, the
owners of 308 10th Street NE, North Canton, OH 44720-2023. And he can
barely make the rent each month. Several months he's had to ask for an
extension from David and Joan.

He has admitted that he cannot afford a landline telephone. But he
somehow always manages to find the cash to splurge for the latest
cellular phone... first the Blackberry, then the Droid, and now the
iPhone. And yet he harangues Emmett Earl Gulley, II about him getting
a modest, basic phone. Hypocritical, since he's thrown money away on
several phones, rather than buying a decent phone and using it, while
avoiding the temptation to have the latest status-symbol douche-phone.
He can't really afford to throw money away on status symbols. He
should just accept the fact that he's a lowly loser in life and deal
with it.

He's got $8666.97 in unpaid credit card bills, for which FIA Card
Services and Bank Of America successfully sued him in 2009. But even
after 2 years, Willy's not been able to pay the money back. And the
interest and charges just keep piling up, as his credit score circles
the drain.

He has posted in sci.electronics.repair, asking for advice on fixing
his 8 year old GMC with 80,000 miles, with an Atlas engine that's worn
out (not sure why the idiot's posting to an electronics repair
newsgroup for advice on fixing an engine's bad rod bearings, but
MeatPlow's a fucking retard, so that explains a lot of it). These
engines are in the GMC TrailBlazer / Envoy / Rainier / Bravada / 9-7x,
and are being discontinued due to high construction costs of the
engine and some problems with them. He cannot afford a mechanic to fix
his losermobile, so he's got to do it himself. If he WERE the
successful businessman he claims to be, his time would be more
valuable than the few hundred dollars it would take to fix the
problem, and he'd take it to a mechanic to get it fixed.

But we all know he's not a successful business man. He's a bitter,
mentally-tormented loser who only attacks Emmett Earl Gulley Jr. on a
regular basis because Emmett scares him. He sees himself when he looks
at Emmett, or what could be himself if just a few things more go wrong
in his life.

So in a futile attempt to forestall the inevitable, he attacks Emmett,
thinking that he can drive the 'bad luck' demons from his life, and he
won't end up in the exact same situation as Emmett... broke, jobless,
homeless, with little hope of getting back on his feet before old age.

But he's too stupid to realize that in his doing so, he's actually
accelerating the inevitable. He's focusing his time and effort on
fighting with Emmett, rather than fixing the problems in his life. So
those problems grow.

And now, to compound his problems, he's got me to contend with. And if
he thinks I'm just posting to usenet, he's sadly mistaken. By the time
I'm done, every single adult in his area will know to avoid his
business. He'll see his income slowly dwindle to nothing. And he will
end up exactly like Emmett Earl Gulley, II of Melbourne, FL.

It takes very little of my actual time or money to do so, you see.
People in call centers in India work for peanuts, and my income allows
me the luxury of taking an abusive asshole like William Malone
Griffith, Jr. down to teach him a valuable life lesson. Namely, 'treat
others as you would want to be treated, and if you can't do that, be
completely anonymous in yer abuse'. I've stripped the second option
from him, and he appears to be too stupid to implement the first
option without first losing everything.

And when that day comes that he loses everything, when he finds
himself with nothing and nowhere to go, that day will be just the
beginning. He'll have at least another 10 years of online harassment,
defamation and libel to contend with, just as he's dealt to Emmett.
Every employer will know to not hire him, no one will frequent any
business he tries to start, he'll be excommunicated from society.
He'll find getting back on his feet to be a nearly insurmountable
task, just as Emmett does.

Except he's 16 years older than Emmett. 16 years behind Emmett should
he slip into that situation. 16 years lost, that he won't have to
attempt a comeback.

And we can all sit back and laugh at his expense. Just as he now
laughs at Emmett.

It will be the epitome of poetic justice, of karma come full-circle to
kick William Malone Griffith, Jr. square in the ass.

There are adjustments for this, older sets use potentiometers, newer ones
set values of drive, cutoff etc in memory and are adjusted through the
"servicer menu", a hidden function accessed by a certain string of button
presses on the remote. Not given to consumers because there are so many
technical adjustments that would just mess up the set if messed with by the
unknowledgeable.

The most-likely explanation is that the bias on the blue gun is drifting
"upward", so the darker areas of the picture are turning blue. You don't
need to understand the circuits to fix the problem. (I could make a
wisecrack, but I won't.)

This is easily fixable, if the set has potentiometers on the back. You're
looking for the one marked "blue screen", or something similar. You need to
turn it down (CCW, presumably) a bit.

Mark pointed out that some sets use a software-based system, which requires
gaining access to the service menu. Regardless, browse the manual to find
the "setup" section.

We have given the OP the basic information he needs to get started. (I would
also recommend he read a book on color TV operation and servicing.) He needs
to look through the service manual for information about setting up the
set's "tracking". Once he's done that, and perhaps fiddled a bit more with
the set, he can come back and ask more questions.

That depends on how the set is set up. If three separate cathodes and
grids, maybe ok. If a common cathode for all three guns, also maybe
ok. But neither is a sure thing.

This is a Phillips and if it is a CRT based RPTV it has contaminated
coolant. Look at the bright areas of the picture, are they yellow ? I
bet a case of beer they are.

I've seen worse, one said to pierce the anode caps to discharge the HV
here in SER, geez, that would make for $200 additional work. Talk
about not knowing WTF one is doing. But this is not as bad.

Anyway, look in the lens, THE LENS. It will be all hazy. Take it
apart, clean it up and change the fluid. I have done hundreds of them.
And more in other brands. But NAPs get it in the blue and green
mainly. If you can't get the fluid anywhere else, get it from MCM. We
were getting it for about a third of what they charge by we bought a
hell of alot of it.

It's caused because they leave an air gap, to help prevent leakage,
which happens from the gradual expansion of the fluid over time. It
doesn't work because they still leak at times. Plus I think their
coolant is not the best.

If you attempt to service an RPTV that is CRT based and don't get the
idea to look straight into the lens(es) when you see this, do
something else.

design of the 4300 top cover directs any fluids sitting on top
directly into the overpriced toner cartridge. Pulling the cart
confirmed that I had poured cleaner inside. Fortunately, 409 almost
totally evaporates, so it was just a matter of printing some pages,
shaking the cartridge, and printing some more. After about 30 minutes
and 30 pages, it was back to normal.

LOL!. I used to do a lot of industrial clients. Steel cutters and
shapers, platics, rubber etc.. None of the stand alone lasers or networked
suffered cig smoke because it wasn't permitted in the office area. But
access to the offices was directly available to the plant. So the smoke
and fumes little as they may be directly influenced printer optics.
Probably any laser printer but 99% we sold were HP. One steel shaper
plant that cut specific shapes used magnetics to lift steel plate
and put them into the plasma CNC. The office complex attached to the
building was steel studs behind drywall. You could see the stud patterns
on the outside of the drywall outlined from metal particles being
attracted to the now magnetized studs. That was the first fiber job I
did. Ethernet wouldn't work with the high level of EMF to some
workstations 150 at the back end of the shop. So out of the server room
came fiber from the then 10 mbit HP hub with fiber transducer ports.
I later upgraded to 10/100 once we weened them off of Novell.
The environment in the office area was hell. Every time I got a call
and the CEO saw me you could see $$$$$ signs steaming off his head.
Nothing I could do about it except answer the service calls and respond.
I had a Safari van with bins full of replacement parts and usually didn't
have to order stuff. They were completely dependent on CAD going to their
CNC stuff as their orders came in.

My thanks to you all. Apologies to those who haven't seen my previous
replies. It seems I have been responding directly rather than to the group.

I have been through the extensive service menu options and found the
following settings (with service manual instructions):
Cathode (set to 15 for all picture tubes)
Colour Temperature (select Cool/Normal/Warm) [currently set to Warm]
Red, Green, Blue (set according to table for colour temperature) [they are
within specified range]
Red BL offset, Green BL offset (defaults 7, 6)

So I guess I could tweak the last two upwards? But relative to what? I
can't see an overall black level setting. Should I adjust these up and the
brightness down, perhaps?

More importantly, Is this the best course of action? My gut feeling is that
the blue level is so far out, that some component (hopefully a resistor)
must be failing? I have now had a chance to look inside and think I'm
probably out of my depth. Those circuit boards are packed and double-sided.
If there's a faulty surface mount I don't rate my chances of finding it.
The microprocessor has no faults and no faulty components in its fault log.
So I'm on the verge of giving up on it, but would welcome your further
thoughts.

P.S. again to those who haven't seen my previous replies this is a 28"
conventional crt, not a projector.

other sites can't find symptoms which sound specifically like mine. I
have found similar symptoms which apparently all point to a failing
tube,
but I am reluctant to believe that because only the blue gun is
affected
on my set. Am I wrong?

There are adjustments for this, older sets use potentiometers, newer ones
set values of drive, cutoff etc in memory and are adjusted through the
"servicer menu", a hidden function accessed by a certain string of button
presses on the remote. Not given to consumers because there are so many
technical adjustments that would just mess up the set if messed with by
the
unknowledgeable.

Swapping the drive for blue and red gun , say , will show if its a problem
with the drive or the output stage.

I sincerely feel you should stop at this point. You are in way, way over
your head. Most of the people in this group would have little trouble
adjusting the set in-person -- trying to explain it via e-mail to someone
who doesn't understand the basic elements of color-TV adjustment would be
extremely difficult. You need someone to step through this with you.

If you like, call me over the weekend and I'll try to walk you through this.
