B&H were also in the military manufacturing business (Radar/Periscopes

They make pumps for heating boilers too. They are the red pumps that
circulate the water in the systems. I had my share of replacing these
pumps when I worked for a plant as maintenance man.

Hi,
I just get a trouble with this TV , is just working an half of the screen
(only on the bottom) the top is blank, the picture seems like encoded,
only line of 2 is just display .

Do you have any idea where the problem is ?
Thank you to help me

I had exactlu the same problem as John Smith. Opened the machine up and
found lazer on the left hand side of machine.
Got two bits of cotton bud and cleaned the laser head and now she works
fine! Easy really :)

Hello Mark, I am having the exact issue you described. Did you find a
fix to the problem? Thanks. Mark A Wrote:
Apologies if this has been discussed before. There have been somewhat
similar threads that I found in Google newsgroup archives, but I could
not
find this exact problem and too many people reported different problems
in
the same thread, and it was hard to understand what questioning people
were
answering.

10 year old KV-32XBR96S, 32" XBR-2 direct view TV. Picture and sound
are
still excellent.

Starting today, when I turned on the TV, the picture and sound go "off"
and
"on" in rapid sequence about once every 2 seconds. The TV set also
makes a
noticeable clicking noise.

If I turn off the power with the remote and wait a few minutes, and
then
power it back on, everything is fine. I assume this problem will
rapidly get
worse.

Any ideas about what the problem is? There is no Sony service center
in my
city, so I want to be able to probe some of the repair people to see if
they
know what they are talking about before I let them fix it. If it is
simple,
I could possibly fix it myself since I am experienced in electronic
component soldering and repairs. At 100 lbs and no box, I will have to
have
in home repair.

C4807 (on my drawings) is electrolytic, but associated with ONLY the
Vertical system (vertical pincushion.)
My display is locked OK in vertical, so I can't see this as related to
the problem.

What is this "503Kc crystal"? The only crystal I find is the
microprocessor clock crystal @ 4 MHz. (Y3101)
There is a resonator (Y4301) 32X Horiz. at Pin 25 of U1001 (Deflection
IC) but if this were bad, the picture would be messed up too!

Again, EVERYTHING works just fine, except for non-sync of the
on-screen-display horizontal.

Any further ideas will be appreciated!!
Thanks all - and a happy New Year.
Matt

I absolutely agree with the "safety first" standpoint of fix it before it
causes me havoc, and I didn't have much hope that my description of a "faint
hiss" would give ya'all THAT much to work with.

Definitely what I'm experiencing IS a hiss rather than a whine. Nothing
high pitched about it.. No squeak.. More like a faint rustling....

In article <0001HW.BDFF423900057FB6F02845B0@news.individual.net>,
me@privacy.net says...
I've got a couple of Panasonic NV-9100 U-Matic video players that display
similar symptoms.

The tape is withdrawn from the cassette by the loading arm (probably not the
best use of terminology, to be sure), but the arm halts before reaching its
destination.
It's been years since I've seen one of those monsters.
I seem to recall drive tires that propel the loading
ring getting glazed and slipping. Don't know if parts
are still available, my guess would be not. If this
is the problem, maybe some rubber "reconditioner"
will buy you some time.

There are some places that will sell them for you on eBay but some are
choosy about what they take in. Also, do look at http://freecycle.org/ which
is a good place to offer stuff for free take away.

You can fix these with that repair kit, but you must find the real
cause of the initial problem. Found mine to be the metal heatsink that
the Horizontal Output Transistor had some fractured solder joints where
it gets mounted to the main bord. Also I removed the Horizontal Driver
Transformer and re-installed it per everyone else's recommendations...

Been working good ever since, but head the advice of nailing the
problem, or it will just happen again.

You should do an ESR test on all the capacitors in the vertical
deflection amp section. It is common to have caps going defective that
cause your described fault condition.

Thanks for the quick reply Jerry, I'll go there first.
Will let ya know how I make out. Makes sense, as
complete Vert Output Circuit Failure usually results in a catostrophic
failure, as in completely collapsed.

I'm not looking at the set at the moment, but are ya talkin
Electrolytics
as a common defective cap or what?? Those are easiest to test with
my limited test equipment. Most likely to leave a factory as "walking
wounded"
too I would think.

P.S.- could also be as simple as a bad section of cable underground...
Try dragging ur rcvr outside and run a short section from the lnb to
the rcvr,
u'll need a tv outside too. cumbersome but would eliminate the bad
cable scenario..

You should have 2 Coax cables available on your ribbon cable too,
have ya tried swapping to the other coax too?

Don't have any past experience with yours, but could be caused by the
Servo Output IC. Chase the cables that lead from the drive to the main
board, I'm sure the Servo IC will stick out like a sore thumb from
there. Also check in that vicinity for signs of resistors that may have
changed color, most likely not obvious with the naked eye, best to
check them for tolerance. They should be resistors in the circuit
between the IC and the motor itself.

Have you contacted Hitachi? Most likely you will have to buy the service
manual.

Looking for the pinout for 3 pin POWER connector on a Hitachi C1 camera.

I've Google'd, Yahoo'd 'til the cows came home. Can't find a thing.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks, Frank.

I believe most email MS patches are in themselves viri.

It's not the servo IC. Maybe a lubrication issue, many old Technics models,
including I THINK yours, used direct-drive spindle motors.
The sled drive wormscrews got bad lube and bad belts as well. Of course the
optic should be cleaned.

Thanks for the advice.

I would gladly take the TV to a service shop if it is likely that the
repair will be less than $100.

But even if the burnt components are replaced, I wonder how much more
life to expect out of this set, since it is nearly 10 years old?

Then again I have a 19" Sony Trinitron that must be at least 20 years
old and it is still going strong...

I bought this clock about 4 months ago, and it changes its time regularly.
The clock is plugged in in Lexington,MA, in the same room as personal
computer equipment. Could the computers be putting noise on the line that
is fooling the clock?

OK I've heard enough, great feedback guys, sounds like a common
problem!!!
Will drag that thing down to the basement over the weekend and get
after it...

Thanks a bunch:)
