Unfortunately I've tidied up an now can't find my equivalents book, but
I've a suspicion that the 2SC1818/2SA1015 are slightly higher rated than
the BC547/BC557, but not by much.
Try them - if they run a bit warm, I'd suggest picking an E-line ZTXxxx
part from the Zetex range.

AFAIK its largely down to their silicon based encapsulant that has
superior thermal conductivity.

Hi Joe,Hi All,
I have five of these in for repair and have got all going except
for one.
The problem is when turned on the voltage goes straight up to 24V and trips
the overvoltage circuit.
Adjusting the voltage controls has no effect.Adjusting the current control
to zero stops it but when adjusted slightly is shoots straight back up again
to 24V.
This model is a 20V/ 20A unit.
I have checked the voltage and current circuits but cannot find anything
wrong.
Has anyone seen this fault before or can suggest a remedy.
