Ebay's ineptness when it comes to the way Ebay and PayPal try to
forcibly
manipulate the way the buyer/seller relationship can be developed knows
no
bounds, and it's this reason that so many sellers are abandoning Ebay
for
real Australian online selling sites like Oztion, sellmystuff, etc.

I just had a look through Oztion and found that most sellers were using
PayPal for the items I wanted - how ironic.
According to these:
http://www.oztion.com.au/?r=249221
http://www.oztion.com.au/vshops/?r=249221
http://www.oztion.com.au/Company/news.aspx?r=249221&id=200759#200759
there are 300,000 members, 28,000 selers and 2,454 shops. You checked each
one?
On the items I wanted - yes.

As a seller, I have listed items on both sites. Because OzTion's fees
are considerably lower on OzTion, I have reduced the starting prices
accordingly.

As more buyers realise that they are effectively paying eBay's fees I
imagine that the exodus will gain momentum. Trading Post (ie Telstra)
also started auctions recently. Seems that eBay.oz is on a course of
self-destruction.

I recently used Oztion for the first time. Bought a couple of items with buy
it now.
The seller would only accept bids from "Verified Bidders" or something, I
can't remember the correct term, so I gave Oztion a dollar using my credit
card to satisfy that condition.
I noticed that to be a seller on Oztion you have to satisfy some sort of
identity check.
Anyway the seller offered PayPal as an accepted form of payment but the
wording of the listing stated that direct deposit was the preferred method.
I used PayPal and got the items in a timely fashion.
It was an auction for multiple identical items and I noticed that the unsold
ones immediately appeared on eBay for the same price after the Oztion
auction had ended.

As more buyers realise that they are effectively paying eBay's fees I
imagine that the exodus will gain momentum. Trading Post (ie Telstra)
also started auctions recently. Seems that eBay.oz is on a course of
self-destruction.

Oztion is in a different basket to eBay, and if you could compare the two I
believe Bay would still come out on top - the reason: it operates
world-wide.

The benefit of eBay is the ability to purchase goods from next door or
across the world - using the same site, the same payment method and the same
ratings system.

It is for this reason I believe eBay is still around when many other AU
auction sites have come and gone -and it is for this reason that Oztion
won't be able to compete or succeed.

each one?
On the items I wanted - yes.
Apologies - I'll read it properly in future.

As a seller, I have listed items on both sites. Because OzTion's fees
are considerably lower, I have reduced the starting prices accordingly.

Oztions fees are only lower to attract new users - once the user base has
increased they will do exactly the same as eBay, increase the cost for
users in order to increase their revenue - it is done by almost every
business and I doubt Oztion will be any different.

Sure, but once they are established there will be *three* auction
providers and for the first time, effective competition.

For me as a high volume e-bay buyer, Oztion is a waste of time, it full of
failed e-bay sellers and by the prices there asking, it's no wonder.
Just do a quick scan of the CD and DVD-music pages to see that the number
of bids being placed is practically zero.
As far as e-bay is concerned, nothings changed since there fee paying
implemented changes did a back-down.
And as far as the buyer is concerned, it's a good system, Try getting a
full refund when you pay by direct deposit, Can't be done. I,ve had a
couple of disputes with sellers over the years and every time pay-pal have
come through with a full refund.

You have no place here in a live sound NG.

Fuck Off WOG ASSHOLE !!!!

Please tell, you racist little cunt, exactly what the fuck are *you* doing
in a "live sound newsgroup", given that you don't do live sound, you don't
gig, in fact all you seem to be is some nerdy insecure doped up tech geek
living at home with his mom and a bunch of cats, living off the dole and
posting his hate-filled racist bullshit to the net all day long?

Serious question, fuckhead.

Just what gives you "the right" to abuse other posters in here like that?

Phil is a very clever and knowledgeable chap. Unfortunately he is ill,
and this manifests itself sometimes in his posts. With Phil you have to
take the rough with the smooth and the smooth is well worth the rough.

Cheers
