of him was as a writer for the original Saturday Night Live US TV comedy

into prominence when he wrote a rebuttal to Rush Limbaugh (a US
"conservative" radio comedian) a few years back entitled _Rush Limbaugh is a
Big Fat Idiot_. Last year he had another best-seller abour Fox TV and other
"conservative" news programming "Fair and Balanced". Fox bortively sued
over the book's title ("Fair and Balanced" is part of their advertising
slogan) and gave Franken the gift of pushing his book to the top of the
best-seller lists before it was released (which says something about
"best-seller" lists).

Fitness involves the capacity to work out whether a contemplated
action is brave or merely foolhardy, and the sense to work out whether
the rewards are worth the risk. The foolish and the foolhardy do tend
to describe the more perceptive as cowards, while the proper use of
the word should be confined to those who can't nerve themselves to
take even a small risk for a likely profit.

The biggest problem with Franken isn't his being a truly hyper

will probably in the long run fall apart as an economic system. As is China.
They do have one party rule, but not one person. Both the courts and the
marketplace have some power.

BTW does it worry you that China now owns about $400 billion of our national
debt? (Because of the debt and the trade imbalance, they have the money to buy
our bonds.) Just by putting these on the market they could throw our economy
in to chaos - suddenly there are a massive amount of bonds on the market and
our interest rates go sky high. Thus they have a serious lever over us in any
negotiation.
