I heard that the virus that causes warts (especially plantar warts on
the soles of the feet) cannot stand much heat, and soaking the wart in
very hot water for a half hour or so a night will get rid of it in
about a week. No need to soak your whole foot, just dip the spot with
the wart in water as hot as you can stand.

I haven't had a need to try this, but it comes highly recommended by a
friend who used it.

Well, the virus is inside of the cells of your body, so it stands to
reason that if the heat is bad for the virus it will also be bad for
the rest of the cell.

Something like 30 percent have good results with a placebo, so that
may be the reason for your friend's success. See URL for more info.

I was reading this info and other, and I saw that the laser was one
method of treatment. Basically just burn the wart away, which may
leave some scarring. On thing that no one has brought up is treatment
using a soldering iron. If heat can get rid of it, why not just use a
small tipped soldering iron to heat it? Might be very painful!

Touching a soldering iron just long enough to make the skin stink and
turn yellow does not hurt all that much.
Try grabbing a metal pot out of a 350F oven some time and *hold* it
for 10-15 seconds.....

It's a solvent perhaps- probably the "plasticizer" from something it was in
contact with. Ever use a rubber grommet in a plastic project box? After a
while, the plastic box dissolves and the grommet gets stiff. Same concept.
Also, for the newbies- never store those rubber grommets in your clear
polystyrene plastic parts drawers- they too will melt into goo after a few
months. Once that starts, there is no way back.

Cheers!

Cauterizing used to be the standard for some types of warts... That is
until the doctors doing the cauterizing started to get the warts in
their sinuses. The virus isn't really alive, and the virus compounds
get vaporized when you burn the flesh. If they happen to land in a good
spot...

A cigarette also gives a pretty concentrated little dot of
heat, and you don't have to plug it in!

I tried that on a wart on my finger and it seems to help
but the ashes build up and reduce the heat before it gets
hot enough to dry up the wart.

Then there's the case where one of my dogs tried to get a bug from
between the needles of a barrel cactus. The kind of needle with a
curved end like a hook. My wife had to hold the dog still while I
slid his tongue around the hook and got him loose ;-)

...Jim Thompson

I bet that was a lot of fun! :)

The biggest problem was that the dog was trying to pull away, so my
wife had to push him toward the cactus and hold him there until I
extricated the tongue. He *never* went near a cactus again ;-)

...Jim Thompson

I bet! Kinda reminds me of a certain thing we humans hear about
occasionally near wintertime, something about a tounge and a cold metal
object... :)

I was thinking the same thing, dunno how well battery acid would work on
our skin though. The body would likely absorb most of it and disassociate it
into elements. Now phosphoric acid, *that* would do the trick. ;)

I'm thinking it is something like this. The pouch seems in very nice
condition, it is not stiff or old but if anything quite pliable for
reinforced vinyl of late 80's vintage. The affected area is quite supple,
and the textured surface does not appear marred in any way.

If the sticky stuff is going to be absorbed by the vinyl, it could hury up
already! :)
