Trump is over the top with this one

Trump said that Pence “calls all the governors. And I tell him, I’m a different type of person, and I say, ’Mike, don’t call the governor of Washington. You’re wasting your time with him.”

“Don’t call the woman in Michigan. It doesn’t make any difference what happens,” Trump also said he told Pence, who leads the U.S. response to the coronavirus.

Wow, Trump took Michigan with only 0.23% of the vote to spare. I'm pretty sure he won't win Michigan this time.

Why does he say this kind of stuff? I get that this pandemic was a hard thing to prepare for because even if you expect it to happen "someday", no one thinks it will be today.

But then to distance your support for the citizens of the US who put you in office because you don't like the criticism by the Governor of the state. Trump's opinion of one person in the state means the entire state is slighted when they need support the most.

It is truly mind boggling.

What's to boggle? He's a patent narcissist. Anyone that doesn't stroke his
ego is enemy. Governor doesn't play ball? Everyone who voted for them must
be bad too. No ventilators for you.

People _absolutely positively_ _do not count_ into his consideration.
People are pawns to play popularity games with. He'll reciprocate praise
when it's given first, but he will never give it unprompted. Narcissists
have no empathy, they don't feel for other people. They don't care if
someone gets injured by their actions, if anything that's a punishment that
they "deserved", and they should've been doing what he told them to do a
long time ago.

I'm not entirely convinced that _all_ his actions can be explained through
the lens of a 6-year-old egoist, but a great many of his actions are
perfectly understandable from such a perspective. Everyone wants
ventilators this month. No, you can't have ventilators. I have all the
ventilators, great ventilators. See it's just a popularity chip. He
assumes everyone else is hording them just as he would. He can only think
of them as status symbols, he has no empathy to understand that they have a
use. It's a numbers game. He needs more, whether or not they're used for
anything at all, and anyone else who wants them must be trying to play him
for a chump.

He didn't deny the state anything. He just said he doesn't want to talk
to the governor. Not a problem at all, especially since the states buy
equipment directly and don't need DC to give them anything.

It's actually inappropriate for the governors and others to say most of
what they say about him.

And I know what NPD looks like, up close. I have a brother with 8 of the
9 NPD symptoms. I always saw his personality traits in Bill Clinton, not
Trump. Trump has a massive ego, but the delusion is in the people who
always denied there was anything wrong with Clinton.

I'm not sure if you are talking tongue in cheek or if you are serious. Ventilators are in short supply. Trump has finally used the DPA to order GM to produce these. That doesn't mean they will be on the free market. Trump/Pence is in charge now.

The talking bit was his advice to Pence who is directing the Coronavirus response by the feds. So you think this was just a person on a street corner talking about what he would do and not the President giving instructions to the VP?

It's actually inappropriate for the governors and others to say most of
what they say about him.

Inappropriate maybe. Not the truth, hardly. But none of that is relevant and that's the point which you clearly don't get. This is not about petty politics. This is about lives.

And I know what NPD looks like, up close. I have a brother with 8 of the
9 NPD symptoms.

I assume NPD means "narcissistic personality disorder"???

I always saw his personality traits in Bill Clinton, not
Trump. Trump has a massive ego, but the delusion is in the people who
always denied there was anything wrong with Clinton.

Let's see how Trump stacks up...

✔ Have an exaggerated sense of self-importance
✔ Have a sense of entitlement and require constant, excessive admiration
✔ Expect to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it
✔ Exaggerate achievements and talents
✔ Be preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate
✔ Believe they are superior and can only associate with equally special people
✔ Monopolize conversations and belittle or look down on people they perceive as inferior
✔ Expect special favors and unquestioning compliance with their expectations
✔ Take advantage of others to get what they want
✔ Have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others
✔ Be envious of others and believe others envy them
✔ Behave in an arrogant or haughty manner, coming across as conceited, boastful and pretentious
✔ Insist on having the best of everything — for instance, the best car or office

Wow! Trump scores a perfect 13 out of 13. I bet he claims he scores 14 out of 13.

A lot of inconsistent claims in that article.

"She said she remained thankful to Pence, with whom she has a "really
good working relationship.""

Fortunately the feds can't order a vendor not to sell, but with
nationalized health care they would have similar powers.

Yes, most Presidents are like that to some degree. What fashion of other
person would actually want the job? Do you want that job? I don't want
that job. If I thought I had all the answers I'd probably go into
politics. Well, I guess I don't/didn't.

Yes, that describes Americans pretty well. As an example driving in
Europe and then driving in America again is like going from college back
to second grade.

Another common trait is a person who goes around picking fights and then

Of course they can. That's what the DPA does. It authorizes the federal government to take control of manufacturing which Trump. That means you don't sell to anyone the feds don't approve. In fact, in one of the articles I read a company said they were shipping not to the states, but to the feds directly. I guess they want to put them in strategic reserve.

"We've entered into a number of contracts and as we are getting closer to the date when shipments are supposed to come in, they're getting canceled or they're getting delayed," Whitmer said. "We've been told they're going first to the federal government."

So she is lying? Or the companies are lying? I guess everyone is lying including Trump who told Spence not to talk to "the woman in Michigan".

It's totally a problem. The states cannot ethically be allowed to grab-and-hold
extra resources when needs are critical, and war powers on production
and distribution mean the higher authority (federal) ought to be able
to allocate for the duration of the emergency. The states cannot grab
vital tools and equipment from the other states without federal authority.

So, a federal authority that favors some states is a high-stakes corruption issue.
The president told the head of the COVID-19 task force to snub a state. That's bad.

The insane part is that he did it publicly as a statement of his power and a threat to not challenge it. I don't think it could have been said any more clearly. Mob bosses in the movies are seldom so direct.

It's not a real order. It's an expression of his disdain for her.

He made very clear in a press conference a few days ago that some states

Oh, I get it. When Trump said, "Respirators, ventilators, all of the equipment — try getting it yourselves," that was a challenge, not a suggestion. Like "give it a try, see how that works. We've got more money than you".

getting funded by this bill.

Massively corrupt.
