I wonder if anyone here has ever tried to "manipulate" a 16 year old
into doing something they don't really want to do on their volition.

Parents have been trying for millennia to get 16 year olds to clean up
their rooms and make their beds promptly with limited success. 16 year
old girls also likely aren't nearly as receptive to the usual methods
the petroleum industry uses on adult male politicians and scientists
i.e. cash and hookers.

I was a teenage anti-nuclear activist! My parents manipulated me into
doing it.

Actually it was just because they let me go to the library on my own and
read whatever I wanted and I read some books on the topic and nuclear
