mobile 4g internet question

Is there such a thing as a modem that has a USB socket for a 4G mobile
dongle to provide a connection to the internet, and has an ethernet
socket to allow a voip phone box to be connected so a voip phone can use
the internet connection via the USB 4g dongle? or alternatively is there
just a dongle that has ethernet sockets for this purpose? thanks,

A two-party system gives the voter only one more choice than North Korea.

In a democracy of course you always get a choice
Do you want to be governed by the red or by the blue?
it's entirely up to you!
Do you want to be patronized or condescended to, by liars or by crooks? You get to choose.
Would you prefer your fundamental values to be insulted or ignored by con-men or by charlatans?
In short do you want your influence to be zero or nil
and when would you like to be listened to, never or not at all, it's your choice
Do you want, some more choices.
take-it-or-leave-it
Now there's a real choice I'd be happy with any kind of representation wouldn't you
I would like to see a new government and part of me doesn't give a
damn who's in it as long as it doesn't include anybody from the Labor, Liberal or
Green party organizations that show themselves to be without shame or principle

All spineless and authoritarian both cowardly and war mongering at the same time
we have proportional voting in Australia USE IT

Put Labor, Liberal and Green party last on your Ballot choose your
independant or small parties first then donkey vote down to those last
on your ballot. Stops the majors getting OVER $2.50 a 1st preferance vote

This is possible on some modem/routers like Billion. I can plug in a USB
3G/3G/LTE device and it will use either the adsl port, or the Wan Port
(NBN) or USB modem as the internet connection and or fall back.

Otherwise, you'll need to tell the computer to act as a bridge between
the devices.

VOIP and a mobile connection has a severe time lag
you talk say over
then wait for reply who says over when complete
then you talk
VOIP works best with WiFi Ethernet etc, not mobile 3G or 4G
Best just use your smartphone Mobile not VOIP!

sounds like you don't need a modem so much as a router, routers with
USB slots exist, if you only want to connect voip to 4G you could use
a raspberry pi but the setup could be tricky.

Yes, that seems to match your desription of what you want/need.

Make sure that *your* 4GB mobile dongle is supported, because this is
a hardware/firmware device, not a computer. See their notes:

"* Supports a growing range of USB modems"

and

"Technical Specifications

DOVADO routers can be software updated to support the very latest 4G/LTE

No. This is a (cable) *modem*, not a router. The USB connector allows
you to make a connection if your computer does not have a LAN or WiFi
'adapter'. I.e. it allows a network connection via a USB port of your
computer.

FYI, I have cable Internet and hence have had several of these kinds
of Cable Modems.

BTW, the price (Starting bid: AU $9.99) is at least 10 dollars too
high :) for this stone age modem! :)

Re my earlier response about (not) buying a (extra) cable modem:

Just look at your *current* cable modem: It probably also has a USB
connector (and a LAN connector), and I'm sure if you disconnect it from
the (coax) cable and connect your VOIP device to the LAN port and your
4G dongle to the USB port, that exactly nothing will happen.

If you're considering to use the computer, then why don't you just use
a VOIP program/'app' on the computer, instead of the "VOIP phone box"?

From using a 4G dongle, I assume this is for mobile (non-stationary)
use, so why drag along a "VOIP phone box" (and a normal phone?)?

If there is, I haven't seen one.

or alternatively is there just a dongle that

There are some routers that can do 4G that are like that.

And some voip capable routers that have 4G fallback
capability to so you can just ignore the adsl2+ capability
and use the 4G fallback all the time.

And the other obvious way to do voip is to
do voip in a 4G smartphone. That works fine.

None of those has a RJ45 connector that you

Like hell it does. Works fine with a voip client in a smartphone.

There is nothing like that with a voip client in a smartphone.

Voip on a smartphone can be much better value.

Amaysim are now 4G $10 a month for data at
least this is what my Windows phone tells me.

Its lying. You only get a 3G service, not 4G.

But I also pay for Mobile to receieve calls

That is a steaming turd of a phone on the apps available alone.

I wanted a 4G modem fall back for my cable connection and found some
routers that would provide it. The ASUS RT-AC56U, RT-AC87U and RTAC68U
can all be used this way. The expensive and extraordinarily ugly
FRITZ!Box 7490 is designed to be the central part of a phone system
and can be connected to the Internet via a USB dongle.
