How was the US founded on terrorism? I've read that not a single

were certainly no bombs planted in mathetplaces.
Rubbish. You guys executed a number of loyalists.

typical to federal laws, they are not allowed to sleep there unless they

The Ocala national forest has some 3000 homeless Veterans scattered

visit one of the mobile medical units, but only if they are afraid they
are about to die if they don't.

Really? And you can prove that, how?
Before Hitler - no holocaust.

After Hitler - no holocaust.

And that's despite the clear anti-Semitism in Germany - and much of the
Western world as well. Even in Poland which was arguably more anti-Semitic
than even the Krauts there was no holocaust. True Russia had its pogroms,
but they were somewhat less effective.

Nope. The original question was what would happen to the price of oil

Assuming of course that there was no major damage to the US

Well, I'd like to have a few less crapolas posts so I can find
the ones were posted by thoughtful people.

Reasonable enough wish, although it carries the risk that you only read
posts which say things you already agree with.... Always seems kind of
pointless to me.

Seems that's what most people in this discussion want...and if you don't
give it to them, they'll swear at you, insult you, and even threaten
physical violence and assault.

Yes, I know. I'm trying to figure out how to quell this useless
behaviour. I don't seem to have figured it out yet.

Me neither, but thanks for trying. Shame doesn't work (silly me, should
have known that one.) Stolidly attempting reasoned discussion with both
sides of the issue doesn't work.
Personally, I think it does work. Reasoned discussion will be noted and
impact other reasonable people.

The argumentative, ass-fixated, school children will never be impacted upon.

(Side comment--isn't it also sad that such a complex issue seems to have
only two sides bashing at each other?
Partly this is down to the "with us or against us" mentality both sides tend
to exhibit. Still, there may well be Reds under the bed....

It seems Americans are too stupid to even consider the concept of double decker
buses if you need to move more ppl than fit in a single deck one !

We prefer multiple single-decker buses because in case of an
accident fewer kids will get hurt.
You might actually be wrong. But anyway, 2 buses need 2 drivers and in Keith's
example there was only one driver. Hence the one bus had to do 3 trips, meaning the
kids had to do staggered school hours. Sounds daft to me for sure.

Are you a ten-percent-er?

Entertainingly, most of the comments seem to come from Americans.

I especially like this one:

"Agreed. Finally abstinance is being taught and encouraged in American
schools. Things are actually starting to look up morally here, at least
where I live. Girls who "fool around" are really looked down upon and almost
shunned in my school. Because of that we really don't have a problem.

- Danny Dymarkowski, Archbold Ohio"

I am going to laugh about that for days.
I'll bet she takes it up the arse though ! Apparently in the USA that isn't considered real sex and so
doesn't count. That why syphilis rates are rising.

Well the rhetoric of OBL and other Al_Queda honchoes. The writings and

few *reasonable* posters in this thread, both those I agree with *and*
those I don't...and there are even a few people in the discussion with
whom I disagree but they still showed respect for my opinion. It's too
bad that everyone else is so insecure in themselves and their views
that the slightest difference of opinion brings obscenity, insults and
threats of violence instead of healthy discussion.

Sadly it is what passes for normal debate on USENET most of the time
though

With the exception of the occasional satirical response to the Netkook du
jour, Uncle Al's occasional rants at homework grubbers and greenies, and
a few other immature wackos like Hanson, sci.chem has for a long time (at
least back to 1993, when I first became active) been much more civil than
this. People disagree and debate all the time, but it is *extremely*
rare that it gets to the "fuck you" stage of pointless genital-measuring.
One would hope that the rest of the sci.* hierarchy was similarly mature,
but I guess not.

Maybe I gravitate to the more argumentative threads :) You do have a
point though.
Well, it's obviously an interesting enough discussion to keep my interest,
despite the modest S/N. I've found that ignoring Eeyore has helped. He
makes some excellent points occasionally, but by and large, he's as much a
knee-jerk reactionary as all the others.
