What makes it your favorite? The color scheme?

The design, the history, the very elegant fuisilage and wings, and the
fact that it was the margin that kept Hitler out of England.

Hitler asked Goring "what do you need to defeat the RAF?", and Goring
answered, "give me Spitfires."

You're talking about being better off with the US military removed,
right?

It would not be a good idea to remove the military, not now, with
the mess created.

You sound like a caricature ER doctor, with a patient with an electric

right out, because of the mess it might cause."

Yes, John Fields. A pre-emptive strike is a bad thing, regardless

Hi--
At the Waste Technology Show (Chicago), metals sorting, they showed Aluminum
being tossed in one direction, steel in another, off a conveyor belt.

Fascinated, I asked how they did that one, especially Aluminum!

As the materials travel down the conveyor belt, the iron or steel is easy.
They just use a "pulse" magnetic field to throw off the iron or steel.

The Aluminum answer is really good!
They use a varying magnetic field, later down the conveyor, to induce an
(electric) field in the aluminum. By std laws, this will set up a magnetic
field in the Aluminum.
Then they use a pulse magnetic field to throw the Aluminum off the conveyor
into a sorting bin.

Works the same principle as an electric motor. Current, field, repulsion.

Describe the situation in more detail please.

There are methods for propelling pieces of metal away that have been
used for years. About 250 grains of powder will do a pretty good job
with a .50 cal BMG round.

A lot of response from someone who doesn't give a shit.

A pacifist is someone who depends on others to secure his freedom and

Bullshit. That's a sheep. A pacifist is one who doesn't make war. Self-
defense is the individual's responsibility, but that's not exactly a
"tenet" of pacifism, that's more like a "tenet" of Liberty.

And, once again, "making war" and "invading countries" are very, very
different from "self-defense."

Hope This Helps!
Rich

Hello Group,

what would be wise recommendations for 100 ft long Serial cable.

should it be shielded or not? (from interference point of view it should.
But capacitance per length will go up. ??)

Is there any reason not to use heavier gauge wires?

What would be good cable for extended temperature range (-40C to +70C) and
outsides (Sun, rain included)

Appreciate your advices.

Sincerely,

Andrey

What baud rate? TXD and RXD only, or handshaking?

Cat5 outdoor cable will handle the weather just fine and makes a fine
RS232 cable.

You can put the cable inside a PVC pipe or inside a high-quality
garden hose for protection against weather or physical damage.
Better yet would be a grounded metal pipe.

Interference won't be a big problem. Ground currents might be.
How sure are you that there isn't a voltage between the grounds
at the two ends?

What I would be concerned about most would be lighning strikes.
Do you have a plan to protect your equipment?

You really should consider putting optically Isolated RS-232 to
RS-422/485 Converters on both ends. Start here:

Are you sure that the error is FT_INVALID_HANDLE?

Although the GSM codecs distort the phase of audio tones they should
not effect the frequencies.

I think you are doomed ;-)

The GSM Codecs work by building a model of the human "speech machinery",
determining the model parameters and the initial stimulus parameter and
then
send the parameter set across; not the actual data: The voice at the
recieving end is merely a simulation of the speaker! The Codecs are
speech-only!!

It is a pretty good simulation, since one can normally recognise the voice
of the caller.
That's because the human brain is good at speach recognition...
