I don't have a link, nor any real clue, but I;ll still throw out a few
ideas.
Railroad anti corrosion, Metal plating, (copper?) Bauxite smelting,
electrolysis of some kind.

OK, maybe a very tiny aluminum smelter!

"> The mixture is electrolysed by passing a low voltage (under 5 V)
direct current at 100–300 kA through it.

This causes liquid aluminium metal to be deposited at the cathode while
the oxygen from the alumina

combines with carbon from the anode to produce mostly carbon dioxide.[1]"

Small laboratory vacuum-jar metal deposition
evaporators have high-current "boats" to melt
and vaporize various metals. These usually
need 2V or less, and many hundreds of amps.

The older IBM mainframes used ground as the termination voltage
(+1.25V and -3V logic supplies).

Well, a micro I worked on a decade or so ago needed 1.1V (IIRC) at
~125A.

I like responses to threads from the late 1990s that sometimes pop up
from Google Groups users. Perhaps they are curious about the past. It
has been said the times closest to us are the times most strange to us.
What's going on with that Monica business? That new Pentium thing, is it

Aside from it very likely being a felony to perform any kind of
bypass, whether tampering with the device or its connections.

oddamned drunk drivers simply can't stop looking for excuses
to do
stupid shit and endanger other citizens.

We don't need another prohibition, but there sure are a lot of
overpriced bars around sucking the cash out you retarded fucks'
wallets, not caring about your condition when you leave the bar.

The goddamned cops are complicit at this point as well. Stop
points or not, they are not doing enough to stop the fucking
idiots willing tp forgoe public safety just to lollygag down at
the sports bar. Do your fucking drinking in the privacy of your
own home, chump. They shouldn't put a box on your ignition.
They should revoke your license and TAKE the entire car to pay
for the shit you idiots cause.

I know where the police like to hang out drunk-hunting around here
on the weekends; drunks often like to tailgate - do 32 mph in a 40
and let them tailgate for a while then about a half-mile from the
trap pull to the shoulder and politely wave them by "yeah it's
cool! go ahead" and they punch it to 55 or 60 yeah floor it man!
Let me hear that turbo spool up, awesome!

surprise!

I like it! I'd buy that for a dollar!

The lady bartender at the Mission Saloon knows us by name and
sometimes comps us. The downside is that the munchy selection is
terrible, so we have to bring our own beer nuts.

A healthy dose of beer fortifies us for the hike over US101 to where I
park on Pot Hill.

Man! You should see how good this Trident SVGA card works
with
1MB of memory on it! It runs real good on my i80286 AST STEP PC!
It only takes about 30 hours to complete a 1024 x 768 detailed
mandelbrot fractal. It actually takes longer to do the black
"imaginary number" zones that those with color assignments.
That's because it has to complete all iterations to decide what
point the location represents.

I hope it's compatible with Battlecruiser 3000 AD the hottest game
of the 90s

Nethack! MS Flight Simulator! ACAD 2.0 Lotus 123 Borland's
Paradox database.

I had a bunch since then. I even had a 486DX EISA machine. Port
configuration hell (naaah it was easy).

I was an early dual adopter and had an AMD dual mobo back when
that started. Even though everyone (including here) said that the
OS and apps needed to be optimized for it... yada yada yada, it
still ran the base OS faster and with less hang-ups. And each dual
I owned after that did too.

Then the era of multi-core single chip CPUs came in, and I jumped
right on that.

Hard to imagine even a single Pentium or such wallowing through
desktop gui code to get your cursor control or a non-frozen screen.

Oh and don't keep moving the mouse and filling up whatever buffer
may have been implemented for that. It only makes it worse... :)

Yeah, those were the days...

PCs were PCs and CPUs were CPUs... :)

Man we could use a chip with a 64 core inside...
Call it the Hoover series...

And no broken microcode missteps...
