I think your philosophy tutor couldn't type properly. It should read:

Life is supposed to be for living well.

Well, it's *supposed* to be for passing on your genes, actually, but
never mind.
Perhaps old Fred's just got very low dopamine levels in what passes
for his brain. Or maybe seratonin or noradrenaline, two other
neurotransmitters implicated in depression, dysphoria, anhedonia or
whatever it is he's got. At any rate, the way we perceive things in
life is often down to individual brain chemistry as much as the hand
that life has dealt us. For some, life's a gift; for others, a curse.

Well- whatever brain chemistry is required for circuit board
construction beyond the level to be expected of a six year old, you lack
it- and that's a fact.
And it takes some potent chemistry to get so awfully pissy about
little things like that. Better have that brain of yours scanned a
bit.

No, I post from here. Can't say I have, I don't spend too much time on
TV. Which program and network?

- YD.
Dunno; she's a network news presenter or something.

I used to work in a language-lab recording studio, so got to listen to
a lot of languages (being an EE, I never tried to understand any of
them!) I thought Portugese was by far the most beautiful language to
listen to. Our friend speaks excellent Portugese-accented English, and
that's very nice, too.

Brazilian Portuguese does have a musical quality quite different from
the slurred staccato they speak in Portugal. Can't tell what causes
it, but the ethnical mix here is quite incredible.

It must take a lot of originality to turn a subject named "Common
Emitter Amplifier with 2N3904" into a public vendetta between 2
individuals; one so vicious that it might result in death if the 2
individuals involved were ever to meet.

No, newsgroups are like cars; they insulate people from full, proper,
voice-inflection-and-body-language interaction. In real life, they
might be more polite; they most certainly would be more chicken.

No doubt he has a notion of which end of a transistor goes where. But
his pissy attitudes towards newcomers more than offset the benefit and
puts off a lot of people. I just enjoy holding him up in the light for

From the New Shorter Oxford English Dictionary:

smart (noun)
Sharp mental pain or suffering; and instance of this, a pang.

Sounds about right!
