In practice I ignore the clock on my computer, although it is set to the

I have one suggestion.
Fix your clock.
Thanx, I quite enjoy writing them. Whats wrong with my clock?
I sort newsgroups by "sent" (time sent) and read the articles I am
interested in. Your articles always appear at the end of the list,
sometimes obviously out of sequence due to replies to your postings
appearing in the list above your messages. It appears the clock your
computer uses to assign the "sent" time is about 12 hours ahead of most of
the rest of the posting world.
Or maybe you like having your postings at the end of the list...
