Anyone else noticed on U-Tube electronic videos that virtually every Yank can't pronounce the simple
word "SOLDER" correctly?

Yanks always say "SODDER"........which sounds completely ridiculous !!!!!!!

For all you Seppos who are still trying to defend your BAD EDUCATION with respect
to pronouncing "SOLDER"..
.....try saying BOLDER; COLDER, FOLDER and then explain why you have to completely
fuck it up when you say "SOLDER".

First time I heard Z-80 in a US TV show (~35 years ago), our trs-80 user group wondered what a C-80 was :)

But sodder takes a lot of beating, as there is no logical explanation to it.

What about 'herb'? They drop the h... I cannot bloody stand to hear
it. That's probably the most irritating seppo bastardised word for me.

Yeah I was wondering how the "Sloddering" etc came about, all the others
are just accents which most of us have.

My problem is not just with Yanks, but with the way a lot of people
pronounce the work "ratio", i.e. when you might be comparing two
resistors or voltage drops, etc..

It seems to me that a lot of people pronounce "ratio" as "rayshow" or
some such!!

When I was teaching Electronics, back in the 80's and 90's, I'd
deliberately pronounce the word "ratio" as "ray-ci-o". My students soon
asked what I was on about, so I told them ... so they knew, each time I
pronounced a word "ray-ci-o", they KNEW I meant "ratio"!!

My little bug-bear!!
