Yamaha cassette deck eating tapes

It is just hard to find good techs and from the posts you have made here I
can tell that you are the kind of tech that we would like to do business
with. UR is good, but they have become so big that things sometimes get
lost in the beaurocracy if they don't fit the pattern.

We have so little Yamaha warranty work anyway that it is not a problem
usually. Some of it I just fix and write it off if it is an obvious repair.
If you ever get slow let us know. If we have something to send your way we
will.

Well, I wasn't soliciting for a bunch more warranty work; UR is good and
they are able to do a higher volume than we are. I'm the only audio -
dvd -
vcr guy here. If you had a particular piece you wanted us to help with,
then
sure.

Leonard,

If you're authorized Yamaha, you should know that they'll approve up
to
twice the posted labor amount with just a phone call to Alan or Jim at
tech
support.

Mark Z.

Mark,

We are not Yamaha authorized for service. We are a dealer and service
most
brands and are ASCs for several, but never wanted to invest in the $3000
FM
generator Yamaha wanted us to buy. I get so few Yamaha pieces back
under
warranty that it would never pay. Maybe 30 years ago...

I am not surprised. Yamaha gives great support relative to other
companies.
I have spoken to both Alan and Jim many times and they are high on my
list
among manufacturers tech reps. Even at twice the rate, however, I
suspect
that many shops would look the other way on an intermittent. I respect
your
willingness to help the guy. We send most of our Yamaha warranty work
to
United Radio or Space Age Electronics. If you are interested we might
be
able to send some your way. What kind of load and turnaround do you
have?

Leonard

I appreciate that. We do try. I just got a bit concerned that a bunch more
time spent packing and shipping would skew our equation a bit. By all means
if you need us, we're here.

Understood. I would never dump a bunch of warranty work on a shop that
doesn't need it. The problem is usually that the good shops are at capacity
or worse most of the time.
