|I too have had a Hitachi toploader for around 10 years. After about 4
|years the main bearing went owing to a faulty seal which leaked water
|all over it. Since this was replaced, it has gone well until a few
|weeks ago when the interlock switch tab failed ! At the moment it is
|glued back & seems to be holding. I priced a replacement lid from the
|agents - $57.75 !! If the glue fails I will simply by-pass the switch.

Dave,
Actually my machine was bought as a "GE Microprocessor 700T" but it
was simply a rebadged Hitachi.That's how old it is because GE brand
hasn't been around for a long while now. When I bought it it was
around $800 so it wasn't a cheapie.
I originally glued the tab back on as well but it fell off in a few
months. Selleys knead it was the go if you don't mind a bit of filing
to shape afterwards.
