Wanted: Pentium CPU

Hi All,

I'm looking for a Pentium-MMX 233 or 266MHz CPU.

If anyone has one (working of course) please let me know along with cost
(bearing in mind the age of these things!) and estimated postage cost to
Cessnock NSW 2325.

I can pay by direct deposit to a nominated account or via money order if
preferred.

I think NASA baught all those up, they were offering about $100 each..
Then again, that might have been an even older chip :p

WAY too new to the Space Shuttle :)

I even thought they were using 386 or 486 chips on the ISS, since they
require next to no cooling and are very reliable.... .. .. once they have a
maths co-processor installed..... :)

However, the latest gen is that they are doing motherboard
upgrades for the systems now.

What does happen to heated metals in space?

So to keep the shuttles flying, the space agency has begun trolling
the Internet - including Yahoo and eBay - to find replacement parts for
electronic gear that would strike a home computer user as primitive.

Recently i've been reading how AMD Athlon mobile chips can perform as
a P-300 chip with less than 5 watts of input but i suppose because
it's not Intel they'd never consider it.

postage. I also have an AMD K6-450 if you have a motherboard that supports
them.

The person is asking about a SPECIFIC type of CPU.

How do you know what reason that the original poster requires the CPU ? ,
unless you know , you can't comment.

There are quite a few reasons why somebody would need that type of CPU .

Being a non-wine consumer, exactly how much would a nice bottle of red +
postage come to?????

The board I need this for will only support up to 266MHz hence the need for
233 or 266 CPU..

No such thing as a Pentium 266 (i.e. the socket 7 so-called Pentium 1),
233MHz was the fastest Intel chip available for socket 7. Perhaps your board
can take some other brand of 266MHz socket 7 chip?

The age and rarity means they cost more now. Recently saw for sale a
copy of "Windows 1.0" sealed for $500, and it had sold. Hardware is
the same, always has been. Newer components(not cutting edge though)
are often cheaper than ancient components.
