When it's part of your job and also you can't protect yourself from
others misuse unless you leave the trade. Piss poor situation really.
Did you know they don't have to put a warning on petrol unless the
known carcinogen benzene is greater than 5%?
Back in the 70's washed parts at a Gov dept with toluene/toluol a
suspected carcinogen and now, known brain toxin.

** The problem is when the gear is eventually dumped - the lead leaches
out into the environment.

We're starting to require special recycling events to collect
used leaded electronics, to keep it out of the landfills and
environment.

** The benefit to small children are well worth it.

Also leaded paint was another problem. Seems that young
kids like to eat leaded paint chips (sweet taste I've
heard) and of course that damages the brain. Leaded paint
was banned about 30 years ago. My father said that, when
he built our house, he specifically looked for and selected
lead free paint. Whether or not it made a difference is
another question :)

That's proof that kids were stupid before they ingested lead paint.
Best not suck on the Sydney harbour bridge either :)

But a raving fuckwit like " Dingo" has no clue and no interest in that.

Probably his brain was lead fucked as a toddler.

Benzene is a brain toxin and known carcinogen.

** That has got *SFA* to do with the child brain injury issue.

Toluene is a brain toxin. Both are in all petrol so I reckon the leaded
issue was blown
out of proportion ...

** But you are low, lying, criminal, brain diseased , child fucking piece
of human garbage.

Why should anyone believe a single thing you say ???

and as time passes less vehicles would require
leaded so they could have left at least one pump where older cars
could fill with high octane leaded.

** Asinine, criminal crapology.

My brain was fucked from petrol sniffing as a mechanic. ark ark ark..

** Your brain is absolutely fucked.

I sincerely hope your wife, any children you may have and any all your
relatives die from the most painful bowel cancers possible.

Sub human pieces of fascist garbage like you have no right to live - at
all.

Never post here again.

That is a warning.

Arooooo pickin on me Phil???
LOL I'll never send you another speaker again.

I am planning to use lead-free solder. Are there any problems that people
have encountered using lead-free solder? Will a 60W soldering iron provide
enough heat to melt it?

Any advice and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou to all who responded to my post.

I actually bought some lead-free solder and tried soldering on some copper
stripboard with a Weller 240V 60W soldering iron. It didn't go too well I
must say.

All this *un* stuff is a bit sus.
copper + silver + tin doesn't do the job as well as regular tin lead
solder. Why am I not surprised?

Yes, nasty stuff indeed.

the point i'm making -which you missed- is that ANSTO lets you play with
this toxic and radioactive heavy metal

Young kids (around 1 to 3 years old) are well known for
sticking things into their mouths. Learning about their
environment. It's up to the parents to be sure there
is nothing hazardous available to them.

yep. A teaspoon handle and a wall socket, for example.

Gawd.... yet in Germany they arrest and jail you for having it, then
put DU in a special container whilst wearing Homer Simpson suits.

I'm all for recycling of waste and even using what would otherwise be
scrapped, such as my 4 to 7 year old computers. I'm surprised at the
high prices quoted when you wish to buy some parts from computer
recyclers. If it's not viable to keep them going then they will be
dumped.

USA
"technological obsolescence of end-of-life (EOL) electronic products
resulted in 21 million used computers being dumped into the
solid-waste recycling process in 1998."

I'd best bugger orf now back to aus.cars in case Phil gets upset :)

Buggering off to another NG isn't going to help. The GOC in question is
constantly upset. :)
