Is it possible to connect two or more varistors in parallel in case one
varistor cannot handle the expected surge energy?
I suppose this depends on the temperature coefficient of a varistor:
- If the resistance drops with increasing tempature, the varistor with
the lowest actual resistant conducts the largest current, overheats
and dies.
- If the resistance increases with increasing temperature, this doesn't
happen and all parallel varistors carry approx. the same current.

Does this make sense and which scenario is the corrent one?

Best regards,
