You'll still need an RF tuner to use with that, a cheap VCR would
probably be the go.

** In his first post the OP said:

" I have a S-video source (digital TV decoder box) and would like to
display
it on a 19" CRT monitor. "

Do try reading the whole thread - David.
I usually have better things to do, but thanks for pointing this out
Phil.
I was just trying to help as usual.

Regards
Dave :)

Rod is correct.

** No he was not - read his next post.

I still want to be able to watch TV *and* use the PC.

** Opposite to Rod's next post.

Since my room is only a little bit bigger than a closet, it'll be
convenient to
use the PC Monitor as a TV without having to turn the PC on.

** That remark makes no sense.

How does operating the PC's on switch lose space in your room ???????

Your way means having to unplug the monitor lead from the PC *every time*
you need to watch TV and then put it back to use the PC - that seems
MASSIVELY inconvenient.
No it doesnt, the tv to vga converter box would also pass through the
computer VGA signal... and have a conventient switch on it.

Using a video capture card mean you have one or the other any time or can
even have both at once ( ie the TV image in a window) .
Thats true.

You can even use the PC as a PVR - personal video recorder, which then
allows 'time shift' ... say the phone rings.. you can press pause, and the
PVR starts recording, and when you get back, you continue watching, and when
it gets to ads, skip forward , till the end of adds or there is no more
video in buffer to skip past.

I'm sure you can get set-top boxes with VGA output on them to
interface to a projector. Then you'd only need a switchbox.

Too late now.

I'm have a S-video source (digital TV decoder box) and would like to
display
it on a 19" CRT monitor. Is there a device which I can buy that allows me
to
do this? I know you can get VGA->TV converts,... but never really seen one
that goes the other way....

Cheers!!

Leon can always 'killfile' people he doesn't like or thinks should be
'banned from the group'. Oddly enough, I have him killfiled, not Phil or
Rod.
