They have money burning a hole in their pocket.

Finally!

That\'s their ( Earth 100 years from now ) problem.

Same attitude taken by the reckless nuclear weapon manufacturing people, whose left-behind waste is now costing over $100B to clean up, if it can even be done..

Fukushima disaster can kill 10M long-term

I dunno
I have been exposed to Chernobyl fallout here many years ago, no known effects.
Our DNA has repair mechanisms.
Wildlife is flourishing in the forbidden area around Chernobyl.

Our species and other ones, life, must have evolved in much higher radiation levels.

The group building nuclear weapons is very different from the groups building out nuclear reactors for power generation. The people making weapons use the reactors to produce very high grade material to be used to make bombs. Most of that weapons stuff was done in the 50s-70s and apparently was not scrutinized by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, if it even existed back then, may have been the Atomic Energy Commission. These days NRC examines every bit of planning, drawings, and engineering of proposed power generation plants in microscopic detail and takes the better part of a decade doing it. The weapons plant in Hanford, Washington state, is a case study in criminal negligence. They have major underground radioactive leakage. All the reactors were built on the Columbia River to provide cooling, and now the unbelievably high strength waste is working its way into the river, to be carried to the northwest Pacific coast where it will poison everything in sight.

A bit hysterical but basically factual:

Japan is poor country today to handle radioactive water properly

.././../.
The Fukushima nuclear plant has been generating massive amounts of radioactive water since 2011, when a tsunami damaged its reactors and cooling system12. The water contains hazardous radionuclides like strontium-90, which can cause leukaemia3. The water has been stored in tanks on-site, but the plant will run out of space by late 202224. The Japanese government decided in April 2021 to release the treated and diluted water into the Pacific Ocean starting from spring 2023245. This decision faced opposition from fishermen, consumers, and neighboring countries who fear the environmental and health impacts of the discharge25.

Will Japan release treated waste water from Fukushima nuclear plant?A controversial plan by Japan to release treated waste water from the Fukushima nuclear plant has sparked anxiety and anger at home and abroad. Since the 2011 tsunami which severely damaged the plant, more than a million tonnes of treated waste water has accumulated there. Japan now wants to start discharging it into the Pacific Ocean.

The group building nuclear weapons is very different from the groups buildi=

the reactors to produce very high grade material to be used to make bombs.=
Most of that weapons stuff was done in the 50s-70s and apparently was not =
scrutinized by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, if it even existed back t=

t. The weapons plant in Hanford, Washington state, is a case study in crimi=

A bit hysterical but basically factual:

Well, maybe, sure points out some problems.
OTOH seems all the scientists and workers are living there happily :)

If it really gets hot we need electricity for aircos etc
some of the power grid here is already overloaded and big electricity using companies cannot

New infrastructure is needed, some coal plants have been shut down.

Not really, evolution has shown we are still around as species.

DNA repair mechanisms do just that, repair DNA, is not time limited.
But can likely be not working 100% at very high radiation levels.
Wildlife is flourishing in Chernobyl\'s forbidden area.

>So Fukushima disaster can kill 10M long-term

Human beings do not live that long
Some may live shorter, but their kids will have better repair mechanisms, that is how evolution works.
The ones with the best mechanism survive.

Lower radiation levels may kill your cancer :)
The rest will die from US fast-food if I have to believe
what is posted here and elsewhere.

A miracle still anybody exists on this planet!

:)

So it is not all bad...
