Ukraine is NOT Russia. And NO, it is also NOT in Russia, AND
finally Russia is not in Europe, though parts of it is.

After the Breakup of the USSR, we have several nations now that are
their own sovereign entity. Crimea WAS one of them. Ukraine still
is, so far. Putin\'s goal is to convince them that they would fare
better under Russia\'s wing. It would be a sad mistake for them to
believe his bullshit.

Everything west of the Urals is Europe. The core of Russia started in Europe and is squarely in Europe to this day. You can\'t go by that dumb UN statistic because the term Russian citizen encompasses a bunch of non-European Asian people. There are at least an equal number of Asian people as there are Russians living in their federation.

Getting back to the Ukraine, Ukraine is not Russia, but Russia was founded by slavs who moved north out of Ukraine into Russia. Ukraine was never anything politically or culturally other than a loose federation of slavic tribes who organized themselves to protect trade routes coming from the east. As is typical of those people they were always infighting and were a very weak society. The Mongols wiped them off the map in the 13-14th century and that was the end of them. Some of them broke and ran to start a new settlement in what eventually became Russia.

The people who lived in that part of the world were constantly living in survival mode, in constant danger of being annihilated by one group or another coming out of Asia. It took a strong Russian in the person of Ivan the Terrible to smartly militarize their borders and finally provide safety for all the people living there, including people in Ukraine.

When the Soviets broke up their phony, corrupt union, they cut the Ukraine loose to be on its own because they didn\'t want the trouble of administering a government there. All that stuff about Ukraine yearning for freedom and independence was total bullshit promulgated by the new criminal class looking to rule and rob the place. How these leaders can keep a straight face when talking about Ukraine is kinda amazing. It\'s no more a real country than North Korea- a completely fake construct iow. The American people, the most ignorant people on Earth, are being duped about Ukraine. Russia has every right to go in and crack heads when they misbehave.
Russia is run by much the same criminal class as originally took over in the Ukraine. The Ukraine has cleaned up it\'s act a bit since then, while Russia seems to have fallen into the hands of an even more criminal regime.

Russia hasn\'t got any right to crack heads outside of it\'s borders, and that isn\'t what\'s going on. The criminals now ruling Russia want to be able to exploit the Ukraine as well, and are trying to intimidate it into letting them have free reign there as they already do in Russia. This would probably wreck the Ukrainian economy as thoroughly as it has wrecked the Russian economy, and the Ukrainians don\'t want this to happen. Neither does Europe, since they can make more money out of a tolerably well run independent Ukraine than they could out of a country that was being ripped off by Russia.

This is one BIG reason Russia does not want Ukraine joining NATO:

Stupid article makes it sound like Ukraine is running this show. Not true, it\'s all Russian, Russian workers, Russian researchers, Russian managers, and Russian oversight. Ukraine is also the site of more than a few military research groups that have to have Russian TOP SECRET classification.

There are many other enterprises in Ukraine that are critical to Russian security and prosperity that any fool can see a bunch of troublemakers in NATO will ruin if they could get their hands on them.

Russia has every right to move in and protect their interests.

That might have been true when the Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. That fell apart thirty years ago.

I\'m sure that the Ukrainians who now control these enterprises won\'t see it that way.

Twaddle. They might have had when the Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union, but that fell apart thirty years ago. Putin might as well claim to be acting in the interests of the Russian Orthodox Church.

It is not \"the Ukraine\" It is simply Ukraine.
Biggest damn nation in Europe and you cannot even state its name right.

And leave it to a total fucking retard to post a link to stupid shit.

You are as bad as the russian trolls and the poltwerps posting their
retarded links.
You\'re partially correct. The country is called Ukraine, but term \"the ukraine\" is still used to refer to its massive agricultural region, the bread basket of Europe- until the brain dead communist regimes ruined it.

The Ukraine is not weak!

Priceless, brother. On a subway with a board game and moving
pieces... no way it was going to last.

Shame you could not get the inflection as well.
Usenet limitations. But that would be cool to get inflections
through written word. The YouTube link takes care of that though.
\"The Ukraine is not weak!\" Bahahahaha! Putin apparently thinks
otherwise.

But we never got \"smellivision\" either, thank God.
