yup. as in "Pads" pcb software. dry transfer etch resist pads.
breadboards with copper pads. animals have pads on their feet, therefore
i can understand someone's confusion. the pads on animals make
footprints but a pcb pad is part of a footprint.

i bet you would've had fun trying to work under the wrong assumption :)
