Search for PIR Component

I have been looking or a PIR (Pasive Infra-red) detector for some
time.

I know of the units for security that detect movment but i need to be
able to detect any thermal infra-red sources and compare them to
decide on the hottest source.

Any style of component would be fine as i can make a circuit to fit
the sensor.

The PIR sensors for movement are designed to cancel non-moving stuff, so
they're not what you want. you need something that's used in physics
setups. Or maybe a cheap IR thermometer.
