I don't think you've managed to make your case, only express an opinion,
with absolutely no evidence to back it up.

I charge $40/hour for a maximum of 2 hours
Plus the price of the replacement parts

If you can't fix it within 2 hours, you
shouldn't be penalizing your client for
your lack of ability on that particular item.

No I don't live in a double story house,
and I don't own a boat or a brand new car,
but I'm sure I'll be at the front half of
the queue when the limited number of
pearly gate tickets are handed out.

If you believe that there are no jobs that should take more than two
hours
you are either not very experienced or just take on the easy jobs. If
it is
the latter then you are the one who is not serving the interest of your
customers. Your holier-than-thou attitude would not last long in my
shop,
and I suspect that at the "pearly gates" you may be farther back in the
line
than you think.

Leonard

No,I'm not saying that all jobs shouldn't take over 2 hours.
But if they do,give the customer a chance.I think they deserve it
rather than being milked all the time.

Shame business people don't have a conscience.

What is morally right to one person is just an opinion I suppose.
Maybe time to tie a knot in this thread on this topic on this newsgroup.

There's no way I would charge less than $150 to fix a blown channel on a G9700, and more likely
it would end up around $180. Besides the fact that my hourly hasn't been $40 since about 1985,
it's a lot of work to fix one of these big guys properly.

You should say what you mean. Being clear and communicating effectively is
part of being a professional and is one of the things that separates the
yahoos from the serious servicers.

I don't think I ever made a case for milking anyone. Neither did Mark. I
am sure that we have all done more than a few jobs that didn't pay in order
to take good care of a customer.

Why do you assume that the people here have no conscience? In fact, most of
the business people that I know have a great deal of conscience.

Leonard
