Not that Flyguy can be bothered to cite a link to anything published at the time that might have had some credibility. Flyguy\'s own opinion doesn\'t.

They clearly haven\'t done as well as they expected, but they seem to have captured a substantial chunk of Mariupol.

If the Ukrainians can kick them out again, you might be able to talk of ass-kicking.
>They are inept and mostly target civilians, a sign that they are not being led by a professional officer corps.
Not exactly. Even the most professional officer corps has to concentrate on the targets it\'s high command tells them to go after.
>Their tanks are running out fuel (?!) and their troops food. This is inexcusable for a professional army.
It shouldn\'t happen, but if the battle plan depended on them capturing more territory than turned out to be attainable, the logistics have to be rejigged, which takes time and effort,
No battle plan survives contact with the enemy.

The Russians seem to have been just as unrealistic as the Americans were in Irak, but while the Americans had a useful military advantage in Irak, the Russians had less of an edge (if any) over the Ukrainian military. Of course there are lot more Russians, even if quite a few of them are now dead or injured.

I\'d be careful if I were you. This sort of talk is how you get

I think John made an accurate assessment, which is what you want in order to AVOID war.

Russian soldiers are conscripts barely out of basic training. Now, Russia has lost TWO flagship guided missile cruisers to Ukrainian defenses - not the game plan that Putin envisioned.
