RF Switch

I am looking for a RF switch/relay, that can switch a 100 Watt
transmitter signal, 5-7MHz, 50 Ohm. Ideally it would be 4-way, that is
one input feed, and 4 possible output connections.

I need to be able to activate it from a remote location, so the
switch/relay has to be electronically controllable, with 9VDC or less.

Please use Fixed font to view, ideal component:

______*
| | Outputs (Closed when active, latching)
Transmitter | 1|-------> 50 Ohm / 5-7MHz / 100W
Input, 50 Ohm | 2|-------> Same
------->|In 3|-------> Same
5-7MHz @ 100W | 4|-------> Same
| |
--------
^ ^ ^ ^
Reset to Out #1 | | | |---- Ground (Logic)
-------------------->| | |<----- Power (Battery) (1.5 - 9 VDC)
Toggle 1 - 4** |
---------------------->| (Ideal TTL levels for reset, toggle/select)
(5VDC Signal Max)

* This could be 4 SPST TTL controlled relay/switches.
**This could alternatively be 4 different "select" lines.

Notes:

1. These are NOT coax lines/wires, just single wire in and one out for
each output, the output wires are very short in length.

2. I don't need perfect isolation between the outputs, if their is a
little leaking from the selected output and the other output lines
that will not be a problem unless it is a lot.

3. I could even use 4 separate devices SPST as long as they are small
and can handle the RF power.

4. Ideally this would be a solid state switch but a mechanical switch
is fine also as long as they are small in some form of DIP package.
The single device or 4 separate ones have to be 3-4" long by maybe
3/4" wide and 1/2" deep or smaller in total.

Any ideas what the "real" name of a part like this is, or if there is
such a thing, and if so, where I might find them. I looked around at
Digi-Key and Moser, but did not have much luck because I don't know
what to look for...

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Looks like a CMOS 4016 or 4066 would do the trick, it's a 4 way analog
switch, you'd need to put a counter (or a PAL) of some sort on it though
as it has separate enables for each of the switches, rather than a reset
and a counter.

There's also various other analog video switches that would do the same job.

Yours, Mark.

Sure, and with the 100W RF input you could even directly power up the IC :)

There's also various other analog video switches that would do the same

With the same punishment.

Thanks,
Fred.

I would look at using 4 separate SPDT relays driven by a ULN 2003 (or
similar) which is in turn driven by four TTL select lines and latch
the TTL lines - or use some logic to select one of four only, etc.

Wire the relay contacts so that the common goes to the output, NO to
the input line and NC goes to ground. That way the outputs are
grounded when they are not selected - so no (in theory) leakage.

Most HF 100w transmitters these days use fairly small relays. Just
make sure they can handle the current. 100w @ 50 Ohm = 1.4A (RMS) so
a contact capable of handling 3A should be OK.

Try rereading the post below. He said 100W, not 100 mW. DUH!
