Reversing a Quartz Clock Movement

Has anybody found out how to make a basic common (1.5v battery operated)
quartz clock movement run backwards? If so, how?
I want the clock-face to be seen in a mirror...
TIA !!

Can not be done without mechanical changes in the gears and springs.....
consider using TWO mirrors.

Roy,
You can buy backward running quartz clock movements. Check
this site for an example.

Yes, though I'd say it's more in the rotor. The gears will run either
direction. :)

The little pinion rotor often consists of a fine gear on a plastic cup
with a ring magnet inside the cup. The clock circuit sends a pulse
that energizes the armature surrounding it and makes this little
magnet gear advance one half turn per second. I haven't tried it but I
bet if the coil's connection were reversed then the magnet gear would
turn the other way. Perhaps prying the magnet out and installing it
back upside down might work too. I'm not sure but there may be a
ratchet action that prevents it turning the opposite direction.
Good luck!

I'm going out on a limb here but.....Wouldn't the face need to be changed too?
Seems like more bother than not. Why not use a digital readout set-up in
reverse?

Your thoughts mirror mine - I was just hoping someone had already tried ???

I hate the idea of dismantling and possibly damaging a perfectly good unit
without knowing somebody has already tried and succeeded!

What you want is a barber shop clock. It not only runs backwards but the
face is printed backwards! I just looked on ebay and there is one up for
auction. It is Item number: 4302248306

Roy,

I don't have an answer for you but you certainly brought back a memory
for me. In 1957 I was in a barber shop in Endicott, NY across the
street from the IBM plant. They had an IBM self correcting clock that
was made to run backwards and had the numbers and IBM logo printed
backwards. This was so customers getting a haircut looking at a
mirrored wall could read the time on the clock on the opposite wall.

Thanks for all your replies. The barber shop analogy is correct - it's
exactly the type of effect I wish to emulate using one of the redundant
clock movements I have to hand!
Perhaps I'll 'have a go'. When I do I'll report my success...or otherwise.
