Martha’s Vineyard Airport clearly isn\'t large, and it wouldn\'t have taken all that many aircraft to overload it. As a contribution to global warming, it doesn\'t really signify.

Nobody sane thinks that global warming can be slowed down over-night, or wants to instantly reorganise society to move it to lower CO2 emissions.

What\'s happening is that electricity generation is moving away from burning fossil carbon as fuel, but only as fast as we can buy solar cells and wind-turbines to replace the old electricity generating station (and grid scale batteries to cover when the sun isn\'t shining and the wind isn\'t blowing), and replace gasoline burning cars with electric cars (and build the extra generating capacity to re-charge them).

As usual, Jake Isks wants to set up some fantasy about the way he thinks de-carbonisation ought to happen, then complains that the world isn\'t conforming to his fatuous fantasy.

Unless they fly a LOT the jets were most likely charters. The Cessna Citation X is an incredibly versatile long range and high speed business jet that can land just about anywhere. The rich and famous fly charters all the time because they get them closer
to where they need to be without having to go through a big metropolitan airport.

The jet in the photo looks like a Dassault Falcon 2000EX EASy which burns 250 gal/hr nominal.
It\'s a $30M jet, annual maintenance $1.4M- charter looks cheap.
