removing picture tube

I have a consol tv Iwould like to remove picture tube and other parts and
reuse cabinet fof something else.can someone tell me how to ground out
tube so I do not hurt myself .thanks

Absurd. The capacitance storing the charge is formed by the aquadag
coating on the outside of the picture tube glass and the internal
coating connected to the metal HV connector. Since the outside
coating is indeed connected to the chassis, you SHOULD discharge the
button to the chassis. It doesn't matter whether or not the set is
plugged in at the time.

Get a screwdriver that will fit under the anode cap, but first ground the
blade to the chassis with a piece of wire. If the set hasn't been on for
months it probably won't have a charge and if it does it won't hurt you but
if it had a charge and you were carrying the tube you might drop it and that
could hurt.
