Reading an Intersil IM 6654 EPROM?

Guest
Hi,

Does anyone know how the Intersil IM 6654 512x8 EPROM can be read by a
programmer that does not directly support it (i.e., is there a suitable
cross)? I realize the IM6654 needs -40V to program it - I just need to
read it.

I have a datasheet if anyone is interested.

TIA,

What are the pinouts? If it's not similar to a 2704, then I'd compare
it with a number of bipolar PROMs, eg MMI's 53xx and 63xxx series, or
Signetics N82Sxxx, or TI's SN74S47x, or Fairchild 934xx. Can you post
the datasheet on your webspace?

Datasheet!

I'd try reading it as the lower 512 bytes of a 2716 (2Kx8). I suspect
you won't need to modify the pinout. This is because the 2716's higher
order address lines will be held low and hence the IM6654's
corresponding chip select pins will be active.

Otherwise I'd use a 2704 or 2708, but note that the Intersil device is
5V only whereas the 270x uses three supplies (+12V, +/-5V). You may
need to lift pins 18 thru 22 and wire them appropriately.

The 2716 and 2708 datasheets are available here:

http://www.nteinc.com/specs/2700to2799/pdf/nte2708.pdf

The 2704 probably has a NC pin at A9.

Note that TI's version of the 2716 (TMS2716) has triple supplies. I'd
measure the voltages at your programmer socket before inserting your
IM6654.
