Plasma Monitors - has anyone worked on these??

Has anyone any experience with plasma monitors? I've been looking around for
a schematic for a Pioneer PDP V402 4:3 ratio plasma display unit. I have 2
bad ones I'd like to try and make one good one from. The screen of one has
screen burn, and the second's screen seems fine, but the signal that gets
there is royally messed up. I've tried searching the Pioneer website, and
there are instruction manuals there, but no schematics that I've been able
to find. If you've worked on similar models, can you give me a hint of where
to look for the info?

Straight forward answer:

Schematics have to be purchased, and are copyright material. You will
require some specialized jigs, training, and instruments to work on Plasma
displays. These tools are excessively expensive, and do not pay, unless the
volume of business is coming in for a particular model type. Most of the
service people jobber these out to the manufacture reps for service, and
then add a small amount on to the cost to the customer. This works out much
better for them, in terms of total costing. You should consider this as
well.

There are NO full schematics available for it. The service manual is
a block diagram with test points on the boards and the connectors.
There is a very good chance that the one with the messed up screen has
bad circuits which are etched into the glass of the display, in which
case it will need a new display.

Aside from the power supply, which must be calibrated to the specific
screen very precisely, you have a full signal process board and
display driver boards. Then the final matrix drivers may be part of
the display itself.

The driver boards cost around $500 each, the signal process boards are
usually around $1000, the display is several thousand dollars. Call
Pioneer for the price of the service manual if you really want ot buy
one.

Be forewarned that rough handling or improper disassembly can damage
the display.
