I really have to disagree with that statement. WV is also easier on the
eyes without all that blinding desert terrain and blowing dust. Better
looking women to boot. ;-) Too bad there aren't any tech jobs there,
but then that applies nearly everywhere now.

Try AZ's 110°F with WV's 93% relative humidity. Thats what we get here
in typical brisbane summer in au.

In Huntington, WV, where I grew up, July and August typical
temperatures/humidities are 99°F/99%, and a 15-minute downpour at
exactly 2PM, so the brick streets would steam ;-)

Well! We're quite cool here in Tidewater, VA, I guess. It's only been
90F+ (with two days hitting 98F) with humidity at 85%+. Yesterday it
was only 90F with 95% humidity (that's right -- condensing on anything
in the shade :).

the ocean, it peaked around 56 or so. On the beach here, girls wear

That sucks. On my bike ride yesterday, it was so cold coming down the hill
from Newport Beach into Irvine that I started thinking of how nice it would
be to climb into a nice hot shower. That's an anomolous event, but the
weather is mild enough here to go bike riding year round. We even ride our
bikes during the daytime. Imagine that.

I was in Mesa in June - the only times we went out were at 5am for a walk,
later in the morning to jump in the pool, and a couple other times to go to
the store. The only other time was to go to the kids' swim meet, and we took
portable misters with us to keep cool. My sister's electricity bill in Mesa
last month was insane, and I'll bet yours was too. Mine was $52.02 - not
much different than it was in December.

Aren't you glad it's not summer? ;-) Maybe that's why less people live
in the tropical rainforest, and more hundreds of miles south in a more
temperate zone.

1254 UTC I believe is 4:54 PM EDT... Meanwhile, you posted conditions
that are at least somewhat common at some time or another of the year in
the very early morning in much of the eastern half of the USA.

What do you have against 65 degrees F at 93% humidity? I certainly find
that better than 90-plus at any humidity. And Philadelphia is not always
humid when hot - on drier hot days, the humidity can dip to the upper
20's, and I surely find 90 F at even 28% humidity more uncomfortable than
65 F at any humidity, whether 15% or 100%.

I have the heat index chart. They don't show heat index as a function
of temperature and humidity for temperatures less than 70 F, but 70 F
supposedly has a heat index of 72 F at 100% humidity and 64 F at 0%
humidity. I expect that when the temperature is 65 F the heat index will
not vary much with humidity, although has to be a little below 64 F at low
humidity.

I have actually found humidity to be not much of a factor in how warm or
cool it feels once the temperature gets low enough to not need to perspire
for cooling.

I can believe for people used to the weather getting that hot. But I
have seen how people acclimated to colder areas can have "perspiration
overshoot" or whatever and perspire more than people acclimated to heat,
and put out persiration faster than it can evaporate from some body areas
even with impressively low humidity.

How about early season heatwaves in Philadelphia, when humidity is
usually not that high, or one of those dry warm days that sometimes
happen but early enough in the summer for at least some people to not be
acclimated to heat? I can sweat to the point of getting quite wet with
humidity as low as 15% - then again, this usually involves riding a bike
uphill on the sunny side of the street. But merely walking can have parts
of my body getting wet even with RH as low as 15% with temperatures in the
80's F on a hot especially dry April day when I am used to things being
much cooler.
