I did read it is 5 jet engines blowing down.
Probably with some MEMS chip for stabilization.
Hopefully more than 1 MEMS chip (Boeing comes to mind).

Small 1 person able quadcopter drones to cross the wall from Mexico
already exist, carry the person to the US, fly back on auto pilot,
sort of a taxi service.
All on batteries.
I posted the youtube link long ago.

You can build your own for < 1000$.

This is just amazing:

Let's just hope it doesn't catch on!
Powered by kerosene, and still had to refuel halfway across.

Silly.

Maybe, but it's still ten miles for a tiny flying item; Israel has a lot of vulnerable border
that just became penetrable in a new way...

That's hardly a practical way to attack Israel. One guy with no
weapons. But he did have two helicopters.

But an interesting variation on suicide mission.

a $250,000 piece of gear with a 50% chance of killing the operator that
can carry about 5lbs of extra cargo seems like a pretty poor financial
decision for a terrorist organization lol

Blowing a fan straight down to create lift and propulsion is not very
efficient. That's why airplanes have wings.

And a fan blade isn't a wing?

John Larkin doesn't have much of a grasp of fundamentals.

Efficiency requires that you accelerate a large mass of air by a small
amount. Helicopters and drones are less efficient than fixed-wing
aircraft. Same reason jet boats are less efficient than
propellor-powered ones (but with water as the medium).

It's about kinetic energy vs momentum change. Need to maximise the
latter with minimum energy.
