OT: Lock-Down

I suppose there's a difference.

At any rate, congratulations for reading between the lines of my original
post. There's something fishy going on here when so many countries are
unquestioningly following the economically-ruinous WHO edicts.

In *your* opinion.

If your opinion differs, that reveals a lot about you :)

<Woosh!> I post a recondite, thought-provoking metaphysical conundrum for

San Francisco is beautiful. The air is crystal clear, the streets are

Meter maids are issuing friendly warnings instead of $75 tickets. The
people out walking and driving are amazingly nice.

I can take the freeway home from work now that there's so little
traffic.

Shopping is a pain. Long lines to get in and lots of stuff not
available. We're going to make a big pot of gumbo but there's no
anduille sausage anywhere.

Certain annoying friends of a certain person are afraid to leave their

Many many people.

Why the uninformative irrelevant question?
Is it more than mere trolling?

Typical Gardner response there.

I guess starting any thread in a discussion group is trolling.

I don't know about fed up... I'm certainly tired of it. The food is a part I'm pretty unhappy about. I believe they are still providing carry out at restaurants around here. I might go for an order of fish tacos later. I really miss getting eggs for breakfast, but I suppose I could get some fast food eggs on biscuits or something. I'm getting pretty tired of my own cooking.

I don't have any idea what it's like to be without your income during this time. That has to be pretty bad. A close friend had just bought a new house and had not yet sold the old one. He blew all his cash on the down payment and is now making two mortgage payments. Fortunately he is still working, from home I think, and his wife is a teacher who is still getting paid. I don't know if housing sales is affected yet or not. I told him to get out from under the damn thing as quick as he can.

I miss seeing my 92 year old friend. But no one wants to risk giving him the disease, so we are all staying away other than the friend who brings him groceries... by leaving them on the porch.

The egg is a tough one. I put a small (1/4 tsp) pat of butter in a cereal bowl, crack the whole egg onto it, sprinkle a little salt, sprinkle a little creole spice mix on top, cover and microwave on high for 50 seconds and it's done. It's easier than making toast, which I don't do.

Oh, I have *lots* of interests, Fred. In that respect at least, I'm
probably one of the least affected people of this whole fiasco. Plus
thanks to the internet, I'm at liberty to engage with some of the finest
minds on the planet - like your good self for example! In fact in the
entirety of human history, there's probably never been a better time to
be locked-down than right now.

Especially not in what is ostensibly an electronics group.

Since when? This group has always been about US politics - and doubly so
in an election year such at this. Electronics has nothing to do with it.

Nah. Irony should be more subtle than that.

Ah, recursion.

Irony doesn't work well in a forum, or even in a email unless the
people know one another well.

We get pretty good stuff here, but the Aidell's factory must be shut
down. The spicing is about right, California-Cajun. When I had a cajun
wife in Louisiana and I ate with her family, the sausage was so hot I
couldn't eat it. They thought it was funny.

I guess we'll have to do with bacon and chicken and shrimp. Life
sucks.

Don't worry, the lock down will be over soon enough and you can return to your dirty, rude, crowded and smelly lifestyle.

There doesn't seem to be any attempt, locally, to
use the current home-bound situation to actually
locate 'hotspots' and enforce a quarantine, where
justified.

I'm not sure that there is any aim to do so.

The host of 'White Coats - Black Arts', on the CBC
this Saturday, said that it looked like the intention
of the present measures was to let everyone contract
the disease, eventually.

I'm beginning to think he's right.

I was not aware that there is no contact tracing going on. I can see that it would be impossible in places like NYC, but in my county the infection count is just 50 total confirmed infections and contact tracing is a huge benefit.

Yeah, but with plenty of leisure time, I've improved a few recipes. The deep fryer
takes a half hour (starting with raw potatoes) to produce a nice bunch of french fries,
but it's worth the time.

We do that too. You do need to cover it - it will "pop" at least once.
But you can reduce the popping by running the tines of a fork through
the white a few times before zapping it - it seems to break up some
smaller membranes or something.

My brain is pretty good up to 4 layers, if two are planes.

This one wasn't beautiful or strategic to start with. Over 900 parts.
I'm doing the high speed placement and routing for rev B, and then I
think I'll turn it over to a good contract guy to clean it up.

I've bailed to some extent by putting parts on the bottom. Beats
massive relocation or starting from scratch. Manufacturing doesn't
much mind parts on the bottom.

PCB layout and coding are fun once in a while, but too much of either
wears me out.

Four pulse generator output channels are almost done! That's maybe 25%
of the board area. Rev A was wonderful, and then Avago EOLd the
critical phemts and NXP eol'd the critical fast PNPs. So I'm starting
over with GaN.
