If the wishes of the twits who are as gullible as Cursitor Doom are respected, he'll come back and share their experience of realising that they were lied to.

Of course Cursitor Doom is the kind of vain gullible twit (like John Larkin) who finds it impossible to admit (even to himself) that he as been lied to, while common or garden gullible twits do eventually realise that they have been ripped off, so he might find himself out of step with the kind of under-informed public opinion that he claims to respect.

Here in the US, the politicians are busy proving that they are a
bunch of idiots, promising to "solve" the homeless "problem" ("end
homelessness" etc).
There is no way in hell to do that, short of killing all of them and
continuing to kill all new ones.

Or kill off the entire crop of one percenters and redistribute their
wealth.

End homelessness until that festering pustule inflames again.

Yeah! That's the ticket! Get those damned healots!

(then become one as well of course)

How long has the UK been a true democracy?

As long as we keep on with the archaic first past the post system and
the way political parties are funded by huge donations it can't be
called a true democracy.

NT hasn't noticed that he's just as gullible as Cursitor Doom, and equally devoted to the particular brands of nonsense that make him happy.

There is an objective reality out there, even if neither of them can - or would want to - get their heads around it.

Well, I guess you'd only have to do that for a short period of time
before the word got around and the other wouldbe "refugees" intent on
breaking into the US would pretty soon turn back!

Sloman is projecting again. He thinks Brexit voters were conned by some

that Brexit voters were not that stupid and that just because *he* would
have been fooled by it doesn't mean everyone else would be (or was) too.

Countries with better social welfare systems do seem to be able to reduce the homelessness problem to more manageable proportions. The people who pay the higher taxes that help cover the cost have more political clout in the USA, so the USA cheapskates on social welfare.

Well, I guess you'd only have to do that for a short period of time

Social welfare in the USA has always been poor, and it doesn't seem to discourage would-be migrants. Being relatively poor in a rich country gets you a much more comfortable life than doing moderately well in a poor country.

Clearly they were. The no-deal brexit looks like an economic disaster.

Stepping out of a free trade area that includes all your major trading partners isn't a recipe for economic success. Cursitor Doom doesn't seem to understand this, and probably won't until Boris sets the experiment working.

> and that just because *he* would have been fooled by it doesn't mean everyone > else would be (or was) too.

I wasn't fooled by it at the time, nor was anybody who read a quality newspaper, as opposed to the Daily Mail.

Cursitor Doom is still wearing the rose-tinted spectacles.

Poor old Cursitor Doom. Deluded, but utterly confident that he's got it right.

The only people who have a genuine financial interest in remaining in the
EU are the chronic welfare recipients in its member states and
prospective member states. I'm guessing you're one of them.

Germany exports about as much as the United States, with a quarter of it's population. At least in Germany there are going to be a few people with a genuine finacial interest in remaining in the EU and making even more money.

Airbus (which is an EU company) is selling more aircraft than Boeing. Their employees won't be welfare recipients either.

Cursitor Doom does seem to be remarkably stupid - not just about Brexit, but also about the European Union's financial situation.

The EU - as a whole - does seem to collect more of the national income in taxes than the US and invests more in keeping the less well-off fed, housed, educated and healthy. It seems to pay off.

Res ipsa loquitur - ‘the matter speaks for itself’.

One has to wonder how.

Cursitor Doom and NT seems to be complaining that "remainers" don't believe the twaddle you find in right-wing newspapers, and regard this as evidence that "remainers" aren't very bright. Neither Cursitor Doom nor NT has ever shown any sign of intellectual accomplishment, and both look decidedly gullible, so they may not have got this right.
