This is a strange firework, I thought it was a signal flare at first but
flares don\'t usually burst AFAIK. Looks like it\'s designed to look like
some kind of two-stage missile:

That was twenty years ago. I don\'t know if they still do it or who
does it or sponsors it. It is a labor day thing.

I saw the Statue of Liberty Refurb unveiling fireworks display from
the Hudson River shoreline way back when... July 4 1986.

I was working in Infra-Red thermometry at the time. Long before
imaging devices were commonplace. Ours had a liquid nitrgen bath to
even work and was a mere 4 frames per second on a 640 x 480 screen.
