There's no contradiction -- probably just a confusion (on my part) of
what all the sockets/devices are correctly called.

I had to do this many years ago, but these days the TVs & recording devices
seem better designed for connections.

True, but you still have to remember which machine to plug into which :)

IIRC I had 3 VCRs connected to the one TV, a switch & a Hi-Fi unit - leads
in parallel & series, & wires everywhere. I had to use the diagram when we
moved from a unit to a house.

I have a similar problem, though it is worse for the missus - she got real
ropey when I changed the layout recently and she had to figure it all out
again. :) Mind you it was a more logical setup, so she (ultimately)
didn't mind. Or at least just filed the incident away for later
retrieval.......

"Most of the EPG data................"

This info relates to using a PVR.

This info is true from my experiences i.e Footy Show,
the Panel, some special broadcasts etc where they
can go 20 mins to 45 mins over their advertised time,
and if it is the next advertised program that you want to
record like a movie then you need that pad time.

I should have said if you wanted to get all the shows
you want pretty much 100% of the time then half an
hour to an 1 hour padding time would be pretty safe.
10 mins pad is usually the case though.

It is evident from his recent posts on different newsgroups
that Rod Speed's mind has gone to HELL.

........................there is a development community that has just
released a way to upload weeks worth of EPG data from the net.

Most of the EPG data doesn't correspond to when the program
actually starts and finishes so it is quite unreliable when considering
timer recording. To be safe you would have to start the recording
a half or full hour before the advertised starting time and extend it
to get the finish to make sure you get the whole show.

Complete and utter pig ignorant drivel.

This is most evident on the 3 commercial channels, 7, 9 and 10.

Only in your pathetic little drug crazed fantasyland.

I will lose my cynicism of EPG info when our STB's or DVD
recorders can somehow be sent a record / end record signal
by a development community that can monitor the TV stations.

You have always been, and always will be, completely
and utterly irrelevant. Your 'cynicism' in spades, child.

(to start / stop record to cut out tv ads for us would be nice too )

Gone blind yet child ?

Sure, I was mostly commenting on your claim
about starting early. You dont see that that
often, mainly when the program you want to
record follows a sports event that can end early.

No real need for that BEFORE the scheduled start
tho I do normally add 10 mins before the commercials.
And program to record a bigger margin each side
when what I want to record follows a sport event.

10 mins pad is usually the case though.
I've only seen the SBS and ABC broadcast too early
very rarely in the last few years and the SBS hardly
ever runs late. The ABC does a bit, but almost never
30 mins late unless its a major news event like that
silly cow Di turning into a hamburger in some tunnel etc.

You've been using the SAME insults for well over a year and probably a lot
longer Rood. You really need some new material. Your paedophilic insults
will be your undoing.

Oh well, back into my killfile you go.

Hey, at least I've got enough basic intelligence to quote Usenet articles
