Is it considered proper to reply to a newsgroup post underneath or above
the orignal? If proper is the wrong terminology, which method is more
readily understandable?

It is only proper to bottom post as I am doing now. There are no
exceptions, and you may notice that top posters are invariably
knuckle-draggers with severe social problems.

But unfortunately some software defaults to the top post. One I know
of is Outhouse - er, Outlook.

---
Which more or less extends my definition of knuckle-draggers to include
the authors of OE.
Well, the knuckle-draggers would be the users, which seem to consist
of more than half of the world.

And of course it's hard to stick to Netiquette when the rest of the
world is going to hell in a handbasket, with all the spammers,
scammers, and trolls.

---
Proper is proper, regardless of the environment in which it's forced to
survive. How's that for pontificating?-) Actually, I was being a
little tongue-in-cheek, since there are occasions where top posting is
OK, I guess, but yeah, the way a lot of people post is abdominal.

Something about draining swamps and alligators goes here..

I'm not familiar with that one, how does it go?

When the .PDF's finished loading, hit ctrl-F, type alli and hit enter.
There are a whole lotta other interesting sayings in there, too, if
you wanna check 'em out. Like some of Dubya's words of wisdom. :))

This post was from Timmy and, at least so far, is the only relevant post.

The person that created this froup is indeed a fuckwit. Who gives a rat's
ass about top posting? Is the proper netiquette relevant anymore? Do you
want to read message at the bottom of a thread and go through all the shit
to see someone post, LOL? I didn't think so. Tell your WebTVers and AOLers
about top posting. Using a term such as "fuckwit" isn't exactly cricket
either, so those of you that worry about such shit need to get a life and
get off yer arse and go outside.
