Newark and Firefox...

Anyone using Firefox or any other non-Google Chrome browser
to manage purchasing from Newark?

I recently made a purchase - checked on status later, then
found myself trapped in an \'acount locked due to duration
since last activity - please renew password\' loop.

Contacting them on the phone hasn\'t resolved the web access
issue (please use Chrome browser) and I don\'t think phone
shopping is practical.

I\'ve no intention of using any browser that comes out of
either Google or Microsoft. Niether of them are \'good corporate
citizens\', in my humble opinion.

Yes, I also have had problems with Firefox on Newark. A
Some other sites, such as Canada Tire, do not work with Firefox.

As much as I hate Chrome (it loads extremely slowly, does not have the
extensions that Firefox has, extremely large footprint, feeble control over
parameters), I have had no choice but to keep Chrome as a backup.

Also, I have run into problems with the latest versions of Firefox. One
problem is loading a blank screen on Youtube. I regressed to Firefox
version 96.0.2 which seems to be much smoother.

One problem with Firefox is you lose all your settings if you try to
install a previous version. I have not found a way around this.

Settings or bookmarks? (you can export bookmarks prior to the up/down-grade)

I usually save a copy of the profile and copy over bits of it,
as needed, to the newer/older installation.

TB is far more annoying to change versions -- esp for saved passwords!

Version could be an issue. Between successful Newark activity and dud
contact, Firefox was updated to 103.0.2.

All the same, Newark doesn\'t have exclusive stock of anything I\'m
currently using, so I\'ll just avoid them until the two come to terms.

Also on ebay, I can buy with Firefox, but have to return with Chrome. Firefox won\'t even get pass the first screen on return questions.

You\'re just another collateral victim of the browser wars for
web dominance. Abandon Newark. Tell them why. If enough people
do that, they might learn eventually.

Abandoning doesn\'t work if it\'s a major vendor with monopoly position, such
as Canadian Tire.

It\'s the browser programmer. Find a version that works or a different
browser.

Or ebay. They just want people to buy and not to return. Recently, i had to return some stuffs that were poorly packed and 80% broken upon arrival.

Newark\'s webmonkey isn\'t on the ball.
https://validator.w3.org/ finds many problems with their site.

No, actually it\'s the web site designer. He\'s using a design tool
provided by Google or Microsoft that specifically seeks to use
features that aren\'t in the competitor\'s browsers. It\'s foul play,
like all big money competition.

The poor web site designer himself is probably an ignorant actor
in this game, a hapless victim too.

Abandoning FireFox is easier. I used FireFox for years but it\'s been
problematic of late. The decline started when they fired Brendan Eich
for political incorrectness.

Not sure what rev was present pre- 103.0.2 , only that the specific
rev was allowed to install itself on the 1st of the month. The
previous rev DID work on Newark.

I normally dismiss notices of updates out-of-hand, but was trying
to get a govt weather radar service back up and running, at that
time

I would suggest the ESR line.

\"Get rapid releases to make sure you get the latest features faster, or
go extended to ensure a super stable experience.\"

I have no explanation, but I received a delayed email
confirmation of the last \'change of password\' cycle this
am (sent date 7AM yesterday).

. . . . and can now log into the Newark account
for the first time this month, using Firefox.

My newark mail folder is full of these confirmations, from
previous attempts to log in. . . . .as well as thank you notes
for the purchase order I\'m still trying to get out of it\'s coma..

From the record, it also looks like the firefox update was
actually permitted AFTER the Newark log-in issue arose, on
the first of the month, in an attempt to fix it.

On-line chat, to discuss the stalled PO is not an option,
it seems, after logging in (mouse cursor becomes X in circle)

Going back into the records, it looks like a preceeding
purchase order (msde ages ago) for thermal epoxy, also ended
up in limbo.

Both moribund purchases were made with on Newark\'s main website,
because the items were not listed on their Canadian website.

.. . . . . so the problem may be more convoluted than just
browser envy.

Firefox seems to be a loser in the browser wars. Usage has dropped off to single digits of the total browser use and many web developers don\'t support it. Shame, I still use it a lot and don\'t plan to change, but I have to use certain browsers for certain sites. None require the use of Firefox.

What is TB??? I haven\'t seen any reference to anything with those initials here and I\'ve never heard of a browser by that name. TaseBook?

I\'ve always had good luck with returns on ebay. You have 60 days and they almost always side with the buyer. If that fails, the credit card has never let me down.
