your craft.

Pioneers in rocketry quickly decided that the way to go was to
drop off unneeded bits of the vehicle on the way. I think you
should consider that. Once a battery is discharged, jettison it.
This will reduce the power required to get the remainder of the
vehicle further on its journey.

Once you've landed on the moon, you need to consider whether to
dump a whole load of batteries, and just return half of the
vehicle back to Earth.

PS: Gasoline has a MUCH higher energy/weight ratio.

Are you suggesting we should drive to the moon? My twenty year old truck had enough miles to make it to the moon. I think if it hadn't been wrecked it could have driven back too. Not sure if it would have done the trip so easily since it is mostly uphill. That can be a lot of strain on an engine and the downhill would be hard on the brakes. I'd have to stop several times to replace the front brake pads.
